  1. the best advice anyone could give you, seek the advice of a competent attorney.
  2. in some schools of buddhism(not all buddhists agree with it)reincarnation is taught.like many other belief systems,we believe that one does not learn everything in one life time, and therefore return to learn.
  3. yes i have an electronic cigeratte and you can get the non nicotine"filters"so that all you have is flavor, and water vapor.but i digress. caffine is something i fought not giving up.i did fine with it,even tho most programs say you should eleminate it.i understand that most smokers associate a cup of coffee with a smoke.by the way, root beer has very little caffine, same with tea(most of them anyway).drink lots of water and enjoy whatever caffinated beverage you choose. it's not easy murph, but you seem to be doing well.
  4. be careful when you start using the"weaker"patchs.the drop in nicotine level was to drastic for me. at first your blood pressure also drops a bit temporarally and it gave me one hell of a headache.by a couple of days later,i was ok,but stayed at that level longer than what the program called for.went off that level and never used the "lightest"ones.like i said, the only thing i miss is smoking itself.
  5. for what it's worth murph, drink lots of water.it will help slow down the weight gain from nicotine withdrawl(and eventually help you loose weight),and help flush the nicotine from your system.
  6. you'll find something like a pencil in your hand helps alot, espically when walking. and when you patent that teleporting device.let me know.i need one of those in the worst kind of way.
  7. while i am not a fan of AA,they are correct, you can only take it one day at a time.just get thru the one day and the next will take care of itself.
  8. after 2 years,i don't miss the nicotine,i miss smoking, period.i used the patchs, but am allergic to the adhesive.i found the mints work better. i have one of the e-cigerattes(vapor),that come with no nicotine, just menthol flavor.be advised that good ones aren't cheap, and cheap ones aren't good, but they work.most of all, find a reason for yourself for stopping. know that i know what you'll be going thru, and by the way,you may want to find an excerise program that works for you(biking, long walks).weight gain is a real hazard.
  9. i think it also says that we are responsible for our own behaviors, and once we recognize that,we"see the light".
  10. (YAS!) most interesting link.i think the last time i paid any attention,it was when someone wrote the mtv,and leggo bibles.he wrote this after a bad experience with"satanism".makes one wonder...
  11. while most people use"universal life church"in their title,it is not an absolute.if your going to register your church with hq,that might be a good idea tho. as to grants and the like,i have to agree with hyper.i do not think the federal government is going to violate the 1st admendment and offer grants for this purpose to anyone.there might be some available even in florida, thru a private organization.however,i suggest you get a plan together, and work on donations on your own.
  12. "let yourself be open and life will be easier.a spoon of salt in a glass of water makes it undrinkable.a spoon of salt in a lake is almost unnoticeable". buddha "sometimes,if you stand at the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you,you will suddenly know everything there is to be known". winnie the pooh
  13. yes it is.i wish i could remember what context it was in,as i used it recently.
  14. and another good reason to learn the laws instead of listening to others:it's illegal for a minister in michigan to make and/or keep a copy of the marriage license(at least the michigan ones, other states are ok with it).still sound like a good idea?
  15. while i don't care for assume, you are correct.relax, enjoy and don't get to hung up on all of it.just make sure the paperwork is back within 10 days.
  16. NO!THAT IS NOT CORRECT. don't know who you are or where your from, but the michigan statute's are quite clear about who sends the paper work and to where. if your refering to the monostary and want to violate michigan law, have at it.however,if you did do it this way,you had better hope and pray(literally)that they do send in the paper work. please do not give this type of advice out when you obiviously do not know what your talking about.the law is quite strict concerning fines and the loss of the privlidge to conduct wedding ceremonies in the state.on top of which, you would cost the couple quite a bit,as michigan does NOT have a law concering the belief that the couple was married,in the event they legally weren't. if your refering that hq modesto submits proof of ordanation to lansing, again you are wrong.and i am positive the monostary doesn't either.the state doesn't ask for proof, unless you are taken to court.the state laws are available on line, read them for yourself.
  17. the biggest thing about a marriage in michigan is to make sure the paper work is filled out correctly(most counties include instructions)and you return it to the issuing county clerk within 10 days(again, most counties include an addressed envelope).beyond that,as long as your not violating any laws, the state of michigan could care less what you do as a church. read here for starters:http://michigan.usmarriagelaws.com/ by the way,you do not need a church,or be a"pastor"in one.the state does not check.as long as your an ordained minister, you can preform a ceremony.
  18. if it's to be done in france, french law applies.see attached: http://bccvisalaw.com/marriage/marriage_in_france.php this is just general information, and may vary according to region.i suggest that the couple do a specific search before going there.
  19. i think one of our jewish members could better advise you on the hebrew part.if i'm not mistaken, supposedly proverbs was solomons advice to his son(david?). hyperreal beat me to the daoist/buddhist connection, but if your interested,i would be glad to share what each has to say(briefly, believe me you don't want a whole essay on it).
  20. http://kansas.usmarriagelaws.com/ this is what i found concerning your states laws.i would advise checking with the county clerk for any up dated information.other than that, relax and don't make it any harder on yourself.
  21. depending on the translation, things are not always what they say in daoism. however, when meditating,i like to attempt to keep my thoughts focused on what needs attending to.
