  1. if a minister could be sued for a marriage going bad,i would have sued the one who presided the ceremony to my ex.however, that was not his fault, and like yours she did not want me becoming a minister.so be ready for even worse about it from your spouse.i just hope the results not the same. seems people read more into the law than what's there.any marriages that have been dissolved that were preformed by ulc ministers were because for one reason or another, they were not authorized to solemnize such marriages.your state reps and such really don't have the time to look that stuff up,even if they have access to the information(as we all do).your best bet is to learn your states laws(tennessee is not that complicated, believe it or not)and save yourself some time and grief.
  2. as long as this thread has taken a turn concerning faith, then the devils dictonary.com had a definition for it: "belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge of things without parallel". in truth, all of us have a belief,or lack there of,and some hold to this belief based on their faith in it.it doesn't make them right,or wrong.it's correct for them. as this thread started with the misguided"faith" of one who has his(?)beliefs, which are correct for him, trying to force them on someone else,i would as many have disagree with him.
  3. never having met her,i would have to take her word that she has boobies.and by the same token, her claim that she is female, for whatever reasons.
  4. not sure how to explain this, but i went to a meditation concerning chakras.the gentlemen leading it had 7 bowls, each representing the different chakras.to make a long story real short,it was the quietest my monkey mind has been in a very long time.it also opened up some experiences for me i was not expecting. to say it changed some aspects of my environment would be an understatement.however,it has nothing to do with spirituality for me.
  5. yet you follow christianity,in spite of the ignorence of many?no religion(contrary to popular belief)can claim to be perfect,or correct for everyone.but, they can claim to be the correct path for a given person who chooses to follow it.
  6. let me try to help clear it up a little.i am from michigan, and if it could be anymore backward,it would be,well never mind. in michigan, a minister(spiritual leader is another term)you can do what is called "spiritual consuling".this means you are limited to talking with a person the things concerning the teachings of your religious beliefs(or non beliefs)and those questions arising from it.marriage counselors, life coaches and the rest have to be licensed by the state.now,if a couple is part of your congregation and comes to you for advice on their marriage, you had better be real sure the advice you give falls within the confines of your particular belief system.and for your sake, make real sure you know what your doing.ministers have gotten sued, and it can be a real mess if all you have is an ordination(from anywhere).
  7. a girl after my own heart.i wish i could get them from you. anyway,i do hope you continue to feel better.i've been using glucosamine/chondroitin(thanks to whomever invented spell check)and garlic capsules for a long time.it really helps my joints, and back.my roomate takes fish oil for his joints.seems to work
  8. or send a letter to head quarters with the change of address information, and the date you were ordained.kevin took care of mine, and sent back confirmination.(luck of the draw i guess)
  9. it's been a long time since i was in germany, and the laws are different now than they were then.i would advise you contact a ulc minister there and ask them.i know that religious titles were allowed under law(revrend, rabbi, iman, father)but when it came to titles such as doctor, that was an entirely different story.
  10. this should give you a start.go to your states web site,it will tell you further.

    Uk Law

we have quite a few members here from the uk.they can answer your questions better, however,as i understand it,uk law is basically this: unless your a registrar,or clergy in the church of england,or a recognized church in the uk,your not going to preform a marriage ceremony that's legal.now,as i am given to understand,as long as you have a registrar there to sign the license, you can do the ceremony.clear as mud? try these guys.almost all are from the uk: http://www.ulc.org.uk/forum/index.php
  12. follow mr taylors link.i'm not from idaho, but it appears pretty simple.
  13. i went back and looked at the topics you reference in universal spirituality.one never got an answer, and i'm not even sure what you were looking for.the other, the last answer was from me,and i may have ben off base, but nobody said so. being raised in the ag,and i won't go into my experiences there(let alone what i feel about it)and i never saw any shift from what they were let alone culturally revelent programs.in fact, some of the worst bigots i ever met were there.but i digress and i said i wouldn't. if you find comfort, truth and growth there, then i wish you well.i won't argue the points with you,i am very well aware of them, and how they are used.i also know how they use the core teachings, and claim that once something is given,it can also be taken away.keeps the sheep in line.
  14. some days,it's"grant me the intellegence to hide all the bodies of the people i had to kill because they torqued me off". in reality, more often than not,it's a mental attitude i try to project.and sometimes it's better than others.
  15. thanks for the summery pete.some of it i have seen in other programs, but it sounds like the one you linked pulls it all together. some of what you reference makes sense and explains alot of things i found when i studied the bible.
  16. i don't have the time to watch 4 hours of clips, but if your talking about it pete, then it has to be interesting. if you can give a brief rundown as to what it says, that would help.and i wonder, does it include the story of mithra in it,along with some others?
  17. while i agree it was in place when he was hired, but it was exempted(whether offically by company management is a point to be seen)for him, then the new company wants to enforce it because one of their representives thinks his religion is crap. i think he has a valid case,if he chooses to persue it.however, whether it is importent enough to him to do so or not is an entirely different story.most componies do not want to get involved in an employees religious beliefs,or observences.however,if they want,a person can be let go,espically if it is a just cause enviorment(just cause they can),or at will employeer. guess he needs to decide for himself.
  18. welcome home rev rainbow, from another vet who also has much less experience than you.
  19. "time for pat to grab his bible and sit in the old rocker on the porch and keep his ignorent mouth shut" yeah right, and the rest like him and westboro baptist, but then, how would they fleece the flock?
  20. being from michigan, the first thing i advise you to do is read everything mr taylor suggested.the second thing is to get yourself an attorney.while some of us may have answers, this forum is not for legal advice, and the answers are worth what you pay for them.
  21. well,if such a thing did happen, then there would be no question.but as rev rainbow said, who's?
  22. i did quailfy it roshi.the "i" i think i am,not the "i"that is who i am.
  23. i agree with you fazo, the"i"that i think i am needs to disappear.
  24. interesting poem.nice tho.
