  1. I couldn't agree more, Brother Kamen. I sweet talk all of my plants. I praise their leaves, I compliment each one of them on their flowers and their ripening fruit. (My neighbor caught me talking to my garden one day and asked me if my wife ever got jealous.)
  2. Don't ya just hate when someone promises to do something and fails to follow through.... I'd just as soon get a straight-out "NO!"
  3. I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, but I cannot imagine why anyone would have a problem growing herbs. They're hardy and drought resistant.... basically they're just cultivated weeds. (You must have OVER-tended them, too much water or fertilizer or....) As for watering plants in the evening or applying a mist on them during the heat of the day.... Unless you're using a drip hose, where the water is applied directly to the soil and never touches the foliage, I wouldn't do it. Any water left on the leaves over night can lead to leaf mold. (Nights being warmer in Fla, Crzy, the water may evaporate over night, but up here where I live, it's not a good practice.) I never water in the evening or the heat of the day. I water my garden for 30-45 minutes (every other morning) before direct sunlight strikes the plants. As for "misting" a plant during the day.... Indoor plants- sure! Outdoor plants- maybe, maybe not... if it's not in direct sunlight it may not do any harm, but just one bead of water on the foliage of a plant in direct sunlight acts like a magnifying glass and will cause severe burns and can kill the plant.
  4. I listened to enough of it realize I couldn't understand the lyrics.... Is it Japanese?
  5. Asininity: Allowing the ** between your ears to exit your mouth.
  6. I love this idea!! I liked the no dig garden 'cause I'm basically lazy, this way I wouldn't have to bend, squat, and crawl either! I'm definately going to give this a shot next year.
  7. Just be sure you don't disturb me and Miss Scarlet in the library.
  8. That's so cool! Make me wonder why can't humans can't get along.... Thanks for the chuckle!
  9. Praying that you all get enough rain to put the fire out (without washing everybody out). Stay out of the smoke, my friend.
  10. Yeah, right. How do you say bull-feces in German?
  11. Are you a follower of Satan? I can only guess that his motto would be "Do that which is wrong." I'm afraid you will one day discover that placing faith in the Deceiver will surely prove false.
  12. Hex, Though I have been surprised by several of your comments on the Bible, never have I considered your opinions to be abrasive or abusive, and I did not mean for my post to convey any animosity towards you personally. I am curious about the criteria you use to accept or reject "inspired" writings. Does it have to be a recognized relic from an ancient age to meet your muster, or would a collection of recent writings be just as welcome? Is your acceptance of Gnostic/Coptic texts based on a perceived "hidden" knowledge unavailable in the Bible or other sources, or is it based purely on an emotion evoked when reading them?
  13. I'm absolutely certain that Bro. Luis didn't intend for you to read his post that way... but this gardener would have jerked you out by the roots long ago.
  14. Nice work, Frit! One of these days I might have the means to become a "patron of the arts" but til then I'll just have to hope folks will allow me to look at their art for free. Welcome to the forum!
  15. Bro. Hex, I read through this article, and though several passages had a familiar ring to them, the reading left me confused on multiple levels. The meanings of several of the titles assigned to the beings described (Protennoia, Epinoia, Tartaros, Meirothea, etc.) are beyond my ability to decipher through context, and are not defined in any reference resource I can access. I also find it puzzling that you denounce the Bible as a false and corrupted compilation, but accept the translation of an such an obscure piece of prose as "holy" scripture. Why are you so convinced that these writings are from an authentic group of the followers of the Christ and not the work of a heretical sect that integrated the beliefs of another religion with the teachings of Jesus? Or do you acknowledge (but ignore the fact) that these fragments of text are at least as suspect (if not more suspicious) than the Biblical sources you disparage?
  16. Wow, I learn something new everyday! I just call Him God.
  17. Thanks for bringing this one back to mind!
  18. I followed Ed's link to Murph's post, and then tried to follow the links he provided, but most of them directed me to pages stating that "Internet explorer cannot display this page". I did find the article (and comments) about Freeman's church being a front for a Seattle gay club very informative.
  19. I love it when an artist makes use of the materials available to produce works worthy of any gallery. It really is a shame that the first rain is going to wash it all away.
  20. God desires Man's Faith and Devotion, and His Reason is beyond the limited capabilities of human intelligence and understanding, The person that places God before themselves will find that they have what they need even if it is not always what they want.
  21. Hmmmm... Hmmmmm.... Hummmmmmm!!!!! My wife and I are seafood fanatics. I once took a berth as the cook on a scallop boat and ate the freshest lobster that can be had (20 minutes from the bottom of the ocean to the bottom of my stomach). I've tried just about everything edible out of the sea at least once, and though I don't care for any of it raw, fix it up poached, pickled, saute'd, steamed, boiled, broiled, grilled, or fried... plate it up, and don't expect any conversation til it's gone. (I was going to have steak tonight, but now I guess we'll be going out for lobster dinners.)
  22. Thanks ED! This seems like it could be a good idea! I have a couple questions though.... Do the borders need to be of a specific height? How deep do you pile the compost, soil, and manure (4", 6", 8"?) And if you are just applying manure etc. on top of the ground inside the borders, what keep the existing plants currently occupying the area (grass, weeds, etc.) from just popping through (but even healthier than before)? And would you mind sharing your site so I can browse through it?
  23. Sarkany, here, I think you are partially right. Conscience makes one aware of when one has sinned, and verbalizing a Confession of one's sin is an "owning" of one's actions and is an effort to ease the guilt of having sinned. Confession is not Penance. Atonement (at-one-ment) is what erases the Karmic penalty for the sin and allows a reconnection with the Creator.
