  1. You are free to assume anything you like... another's delusion and denial has absolutely no effect on my reality. As for "Probability Theory"... even if it's 50% right, then it's at least 50% wrong. Would you accept the proof if it was placed in front of you? Belief in God requires Faith alone. You either have it or you don't.
  2. Great info, Kim! I'm a coupon-clipper from way back. I even have a coupon caddy that organizes and separates them. I save an average of $10 a week by using coupons. Last year, when they opened a new Kroger, I bought $200 of groceries for $115. Buy-one/get-one-free items where you can use coupons for both items really cuts costs. There have been changes over the years - where they once offered coupons for 50 cents off the purchase of a single item, now days most manufacturers have started requiring you to purchase 2 or 3 items in order to use a 25 cent coupon.
  3. My prayers will include you and your family. God's blessings!
  4. I've only viewed one or two episodes so I'm not immersed in the story. From what I've seen, I think it's well directed and performed by excellent players. What's with calling the dwarf an imp? Or is imp politically correct, and dwarf taboo?
  5. Rev. Al, I finally made it down the list of topics to this one... Thanks for bringing it to my attention. The change in Norway's constitution doesn't really affect me at all, so my opinion is of little import. I'd be much more interested in how your relations living in Norway view the change. Is it going to change anything (other than the financing of the Lutheran Church)? Did the government previously ban other faiths? Were they discriminated against in other ways? Was it done to satisfy the demands of a very vocal minority over the wishes of the silent majority? I guess the last paragraph of the article states my concerns better than I can- "So while Norway has ’lost its religion’ and gone secular, Norwegian should reflect on whether this is a true change for the better, a step towards equality, or a reaction to tragedy and yet another wedge between humans and spirituality."
  6. Congrats Grateful! (And thanks for the laughs, Dan!)
  7. Oh Man! I've been on the road for 2 days and hadn't heard anything about his passing on the news. What a great musician. Rest in peace, Doc!
  8. The way I read it, Steve, LuvsKim named you as the subject of the 1st paragraph. The second and last seems to be directed to Hypo.
  9. You're an inspiration, Murph! My wife quit earlier this month. To support her, and to remove any temptation, I started going outside to partake. That lasted a couple days... I was spending more time out in the heat than I was spending in the AC. I decided to quit too. It's been 1 week. I haven't saved any money though.... my grocery bill went up $40 and I've gained 10 pounds.
  10. Doubt used to haunt me, but hasn't bothered me since I discovered the Truth. My belief contains pure black and white "truths" that advise that I restrict and govern my thoughts and actions accordingly. There is no "Right" that could be "Wrong". No "Wrong" that may be "Right." Though I am puzzled as to why the path that led me to where I am now wandered so far afield, the absolute certainty of my relationship with my Creator answers the "Why am I here?" question. Certainty in my beliefs is comforting, and lends me strength to continue when I am weak.
  11. Maybe you should have read the whole article. "One reason the group believes the uranium-thorium estimates to be more accurate than carbon dating is that they produce better matches between known changes in the Earth's orbit and changes in global glaciation. According to carbon dating of fossil animals and plants, the spreading and receding of great ice sheets lagged behind orbital changes by several thousand years, a delay that scientists found hard to explain. But Dr. Richard G. Fairbanks, a member of the Lamont-Doherty group, said that if the dates of glaciation were determined using the uranium-thorium method, the delay - and the puzzle - disappeared. The group theorizes that large errors in carbon dating result from fluctuations in the amount of carbon 14 in the air. Changes in the Earth's magnetic field would change the deflection of cosmic-ray particles streaming toward the Earth from the Sun. Carbon 14 is thought to be mainly a product of bombardment of the atmosphere by cosmic rays, so cosmic ray intensity would affect the amount of carbon 14 in the environment at any given time. The Lamont-Doherty group says uranium-thorium dating not only is more precise than carbon dating in some cases, but also can be used to date much older objects.Carbon dating is unreliable for objects older than about 30,000 years, but uranium-thorium dating may be possible for objects up to half a million years old, Dr. Zindler said."
  12. Steve, Who wouldn't love to live in a world completely devoid of defect, disease, and death? However, my personal beliefs are such that I feel that these physical afflictions are necessary for our spiritual advancement.
  13. Is this a rhetorical question, or are you in possession of the cures and offering to share?
  14. Old news- Carbon dating is not accurate. http://www.nytimes.com/1990/05/31/us/errors-are-feared-in-carbon-dating.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm
  15. Congrats, and my best wishes to the new couple! (Was it captured on video? If so, AFV might be interested.)
  16. You mentioned this course in another thread and it piqued my interest. I appreciate your providing the link. I gave the course lessons a quick scan and like what I read. It appears that the only promised miracle is in the change of one's perspective to recognize our intimate relationship with the Creator (whether other miracles are possible depends upon our recognition of God's power within ourselves). It basically echos what I have always believed. I started the course today. Thanks again!
  17. Thank you, Brother!!! I try to check your topics last so I leave the site with a smile. Thanks for the "belly" laugh.
  18. Hi Constantine! I like what vegtam said... "To minister is to serve and help....." but would add that you don't NEED to be ordained to be of service to others. The ordination is only necessary if you're going to perform rites restricted by your government to "ordained" ministers. Congrats on having found your path, and good luck on your journey!
  19. I bet necking with her is a all day job.
  20. What Could Cause You To Kill Another Person? Unreasoning, uncontrollable anger. I was once saved from commiting the act (through the grace of God and the restraint of several men), and that's all I'll say about it.
  21. Interesting dream! I wish I could approach the Christ as you did in your dream, mine are not nearly as revealing. Your interpretation of the dream is (IMO) more important to your spiritual development than anyone else's. I personally believe that the Christ WAS reincarnated many times in many places before he faced the final test. There's a collection of the readings of Edgar Cayce concerning the incarnations of the soul that became the Christ in which he states that He was present from the beginning and appeared first as the original man, Adam (not Cain).
  22. My wife quit yesterday.... she's quit many times before but has always relapsed. (If today was an indication of days to come, her quiting is going to be harder on me than her. Wish us luck!)
