All animals will kill if they have to. Most human animals will kill when they have to. Some animals and humans will kill because it is fun. Some humans will not kill animals even to eat. Some humans marched peacefully into the gas chambers even after being told where they were going. (let us please not let this become a Hitler discussion)

I think it is silly to believe that ancient people were far more advanced than we are to be able to predict much of anything except perhaps the moon phases. People need to get a grip.

I will hold you close in my thoughts and meditations. -
Thank you, Rev'd Rattlesnake. I have read my fair share of crap, too, and it has also helped make me who I am today.

My eyes do not allow me to read much anymore. I hesitate to bump my reading glasses up again. The many books I have read have each had an impact on who I am. Shakespeare, Dickens, Vonnegut, Heinlein, Greene, Hemingway, Robbins, and many, many others. I suppose, even Mathew, Mark, Luke and John, Sophocles, Homer. I can't quote any of them now but each were great writers.

In the '70s, in the Pacific Northwest, people would drive iron spikes deep into trees so that when they were cut and run thru the sawmill, it would cause serious damage to both equipment and men when it came into contact with the various saw blades. It was done as a protest of one sort or another and then copied by people who did it out of meanness. Of course, my belief was that they all did it out of meanness.

I have never been a man of active violence. When I served in the military it was as a communications specialist. Though I rant and rave about fools and their events, it is just words. At the same time, if I have any possible input to the event, I will not allow violence to be done to myself or my family and will become as violent as necessary to accomplish that end. I guess then, I am not a pacifist by my definition of what a pacifist should be. I envy Gandhi and King for the peace that must have filled them.

One day at a time. One foot in front of the other. Even if you don't want to.

My PC works very hard at keeping up with all the forums.

I don't mind at all getting old. I just wish it didn't hurt so much.

Apparently fairness and justice are not a priority for Americans as it is just fodder for the blatherings of politicians and have no bearing on the reality of American government. All Americans really want from their politicians are the keys to the treasury and more "gimme" programs.
-
Fair and Just do not play into American politics. You need to rephrase you question.

Well, shoot! I wish I was related to Adam.

Spend a week or so in a court room and watch the cases that come forward and the sentences handed out. You will find vast discrimination in sentencing depending on race, color, ethnicity, etc. It may take more than a week to get a good sampling.

Rest and be at peace, Ernest.

From a philosophical point of view, these questions sound like they belong in the sex thread and I see no connection with them and my spirituality at all.

Be happy to. I am sick of it.
