  1. I will keep you and your family close in my thoughts and meditations, Atwater Vitki.
  2. Thank you, cuchulain. Could you do us the favor of telling us who you are to kinda get things started?
  3. I think Obededom was just saying that, to him, homosexuals are sinners and they were merely getting their just desserts. God was once again using wicked people to murder wicked people in His name. God held them accountable and took care of the matter. Now I think that if God was doing these things in Africa to homosexuals, then only the African homosexuals were sinning so bad that God had to step in. God doesn't seem as anxious to murder off a lot of homosexuals in America. Perhaps God has respect for our Constitution and the rights of all people including homosexuals. If that is the case then the Christians need to have that same respect. That includes Obededom.
  4. Did I miss something? Is Obededom murdering folks? If the God of Abraham is murdering folks, that is ok because to those of faith, He is God and can do whatever he wants. By the way, the God of Abraham has always used humans to do his dirty work for him. He can't just strike folks dead, He must rouse up someone to do the killing for Him.
  5. Sin is only relevant in a religious context. It has nothing to do with morals and right judgement. My "system" of morality is the Golden Rule.
  6. I do not believe in miracles. I do believe in the power of the mind. My mind, your mind or anyone else's mind. One need only be conscious of the ability to use their mind and then with a little practice, anything can be possible.
  7. Reading, once again, "Cat's Cradle," by Kurt Vonnegut. I am trying to get through his collected works again.
  8. It is only a sin for some of the followers of the God of Abraham and a few small scattered religions thru out the world.
  9. Unless you place a flower pot on it and then it is in fact a plant stand. A chair can be a chair only when it is utilized as such.
  10. There is no such thing as nothing as applied to matter. All the Universe is made of matter. Some is just less dense that others.
  11. The equations must have worked or you need to change your light bulb so it will.
  12. All cultures have a supernatural creation story. The only reason the barbarian sheep herders creation story is so important is because so many people still believe it as though no time has passed since the story was first told. All the native tribes in our fine nation have their own creation stories but somewhere some of them grew up and put them aside while others just exchanged them for the God of Abraham's myth.
  13. Mostly they kill whoever gets in their way and for whatever reason occurs to them at the time. The better the media coverage the better they like it. I would not worry until civilized people start killing witches. Jihadist will kill anybody. Witches aren't special to them.
  14. Thank you, murphzlaw1. I hope you are doing well, both with the software and with yourself.
  15. I tried to read it but there was so much Christian gobbledegook in it that i had to put it down.
  16. Do you remember, cuchulain, that i mentioned splitting hair to the quantum level and you told me that splitting hair like that is what went on in a debate. I thought it was nitpicking at the time but, hey, I going to let is slide.
  17. Just one more comment about the business thing and then I will let it go. Dan said he built his successful business himself. Yes he has customers. Many businesses with customers fail. Dan's, so far, has not.
  18. I still agree with you Dan56.
  19. I agree with you Dan56. Some folks like to split hair to the quantum level. I get it. Even if I were in the business of murdering people for their money, I would NEED people with money to murder. Like I said, splitting hair.
  20. We are animals ourselves and should never be surprised when we find emotional things in common.
  21. The article states: Allowing Southern Baptist missionaries to speak in tongues, or have what some SBC leaders call a "private prayer language," speaks to the growing strength of Pentecostal churches in Africa, Asia and South America, where Southern Baptists are competing for converts and where energized new Christians are enthusiastically embracing the practice. "In so many parts of the world, these charismatic experiences are normative," said Bill Leonard, professor of church history at Wake Forest Divinity School. "Religious groups that oppose them get left behind evangelistically." To me this means the Southern Baptists are having trouble drumming up business and need the tongues to give them an edge up.
