  1. Exactly. When enough people perceive something the same way, we label it as fact. That still does not necessarily meam someone else's perception is wrong. Just lowers the probability that it might be wrong. Radical Islamist do not perceive they are wrong and that is a fact, for them at least.
  2. I submit that facts are not facts at all. When enough people believe they perceive the same things they label them as facts. Once something is labeled as fact, to many it becomes a closed subject and their minds close to other possibilities.
  3. Everything must be argued. Question everything. Whatever is left is your truth. I have found that nothing is left and everything is left. It can be argued that truth does not exist and also argued that there is truth in everything. Perception makes all the difference.
  4. A bias is not necessarily a bad thing. All a bias is, is a preference. Talking animals are one of the easiest parts of the Bible for me to believe. If I am not mistaken, the Bible did not specify a verbal exchange. I speak and listen to many animals but neither them nor me are much verbal and none have spoken to me in my tongue yet we understand each other. Now, re - animating the dead, that is a hard one to swallow.
  5. It is my subjective opinion that, though logic has its place, human brains do not operate logically. Way too much emphasis is placed on logic. The world operates on voodoo and magic. Look at history, look at current events. I bet you can't find a hint of logic outside science and the science deniers are on the rise.
  6. This statement makes me think of you as the sort who gives the government an interest free loan for a year and is tickled they give it back as a refund.
  7. For you, then, government assistance falls into the entitlement catergory. You paid for it so you are entitled to it when you need it.
  8. It is my thought that when one receives help from an individual, one is likely to feel obligation. When one receives help from a church, one feels blessed. When one receives help from the government, one feels entitled or perhaps, on another note, diminished.
  9. There cannot be an "us" as a majority with out first being an "us" as individuals. There could be many A/atheists in congress. There are probably no professed atheist's in congress. I could, of course, be wrong but I think it very difficult to hold a federal elective office in this country without a professed belief in G/god.
  10. If there had never been religion, "G/god," people would have found other motivations to do great and horrible deeds. B e lief in G/god is not an end all motivator. A hideous fear of going to prison has motivated me to obey those laws that I obey. I do not fear the wrath of G/god.
  11. My understanding of A/agnosticism is that the A/agnostic neither believes nor disbelieve in a G/god. You seem to be equating it with a lifestyle. Believing or disbelieving in a G/god has little to do with motivation to do good or bad.
  12. While I have no idea how my original comment could led to this, I do see how your response has led to mine. Just where did you think this comment would lead, if not to the National Socialist party of Germany? And how do you even come up with this post in reply to my original comment?
  13. Interesting to see how my comment has led to a rise in a new Hitler persona.
  14. Are "They" coming for you? Everyone believes in free speech as long as people are saying what everyone wants to hear.
  15. Of course it is my business. That is why I support strick criminal law. I don't need a "bible" to teach human dignity, human desire to survive as a specie teaches me that.
  16. See, that is the beauty of it all. We can all do as we please with our spiritual beliefs or lack of them. As long as we abide by the laws of our land with our actions, none of the rest of it is anyone's business. Quoting Bible to me is meaningless. You can spread your Bible blather to someone else.
  17. I do not believe that any of us here have access to the information one must have in order to make any sort of concrete suggestions bout our current state of affairs.
  18. I think it is an analogy to not being able to accept truth. Apparently the Christian girl fled from the debate because she was fleeing the truth as it did not agree with her reality.
  19. Your A/atheism is such that you take glee in making others uncomfortable? Tsk, tsk, tsk...
  20. I cannot say with certainty where my car is until I observe it. I can only make an educated guess based on the odds of it not being in the last place I left it.
  21. My enemies are few, if any, since I retired. I don't handle them as I am unaware of them. I will, however, defend my wife, myself, anyone under my roof, my home and property with vigor and whatever violence I deem necessary to stop the threat. I am licensed to carry concealed firearms and carry 24/7. I have only had to put it to persons head twice in my lifetime and do not look forward to having to do it again. Carrying a firearm has taught me great patience with fools, reduced my road rage and made me very polite. Should I ever have to use my firearm to defend myself, family or property, I can never be seen to have picked a fight or incited others to violence.
  22. In another thread, you questioned binging up G/god and mythology with the quantum world and you have just shown why it is linked.
