Michelle Pfeiffer Sings Cool Rider From Grease 2
Songster replied to BpCorey's topic in Cultural Arts Archive
Are you certain that was Michelle singing, and not an over-dub? It didn't sound like her voice to me. -
I'm hoping that my opinion of rats hasn't offended anyone.... and I'd never bash your dog..... (unless he's a poodle.)

Hahahahaa! You are 100% right there, Al. Anyone can say anything they want about me....they can question my Manhood, they can doubt courage, but I readily admit that I have only seen about 30 minutes of "Ben" (and about 15 minutes of "Arachnophobia").

To each his own..... but I have no love in my heart for rodents or reptiles. They may have a place in the wild, but neither are welcome near my domicile. (I have allowed a 4 foot black snake to live in my shed, but only because he keeps the rodents away.)

I used to have to travel, driving from one overtime job to the next. Because I was there to make money (and spend as little as possible), I would rent the cheapest lodgings I could find. One time, I found a little 1 room cottage that rented for $50 a week. It wasn't much more than a shack, but it had indoor plumbing, and since I was working 12 hour days and was only there for 8 hours a night, it seemed perfect. One night as I lay there in bed, I rolled over, and my hand touched something furry. I jumped up out of bed and turned on the light. There on my pillow sat a BIG BLACK RAT. I was scared to death, but evidently he was not afraid of me at all. I reached into my suitcase and pulled out my pistol. I didn't want to shoot him on the bed, so I kicked it a couple times to get him to jump on the floor. He didn't move an inch and just sat there with his whiskers twitching, staring at me (apparently I had been sleeping in HIS bed).... I had to shoot him 3 times before he quit moving. Needless to say, I packed up and checked into the Motel 6 for $27.50 a night. (Just thinking about it still gives me the willies.)

Sorry, my friend...... there's no such thing as a "cute" rat. (Last time I had a rat look at me like that, I shot him with a 22.)

I made the mistake of showing this pic to my wife. She's on a bunny hunt now.

So, John..... are you making an accusation? Have you proof? Or just casting aspersions? I think we should give the man the benefit of the doubt. A man in need will look EVERYWHERE for help. -
Nice! I'm not a big fan of what most young folk listen to these days, but I really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing this one!

Traveling With Pets - Suggestions/advice Welcome
Songster replied to grateful's topic in Hobby/Leisure Archive
Wow, Good Luck! Flying would be the quickest and easiest way to make the trip (for you and them) because the stress of the trip would be a one-time and done deal. Having to drive them across country is going to be a real ordeal. Depending on your route and your itinerary (and barring problems), it could take 6 days or more (3000 miles at 500 miles a day) of steady driving to reach your destination. My wife's cats were our concern a couple years ago when we were traveling the country during my "migrant worker" days. One loved her little kitty carrier and wouldn't give us any problem, but the other one would "blow-out" and scream bloody murder when we tried to put her in hers. My niece is a vet's assistant, and she said that we could give our 7 lb cats a 1/4 of a tablet of Benadryl each to keep them calm during the 8-12 hours a day that we were on the road. You can also get a prescription from your vet for "real" tranquilizers for them. (You might want to pick up some for yourself, too.) Again, Good Luck! -

I can't answer that question, Hyper..... but his previous posts reveal to me that he is seeking (like most of us) to increase his knowledge of himself and his fellow man, and to improve his relationship with his Creator. I sincerely hope he will return. -
Signing Off For Good
Songster replied to Rev. Jerry C. Pickett's topic in Good Wishes, Gratitude, Blessings and Prayers
Rev. Jerry started a thread yesterday that included a plea for assistance for himself and his family. (I think I read somewhere in the rules that we're not supposed to use this forum to solicit donations.) I had read the post and was composing a reply when the thread went "poof" and disappeared. Jerry started this thread a couple minutes later. -
I think I was one of the three people in the country that actually paid to see this way back when....

Rev. Jerry, I was going to reply to your plea in the thread you started but was un-able to do so. I am sorry to hear of your problems and sincerely wish I could help you and your family in your time of need. My current situation, however, is not that far removed from your own and I cannot make a financial contribution at this time. If you have not applied for public assistance (as humiliating and degrading as that process may be), I recommend that you seek help (especially in securing the medical attention your condition requires asap). There are also other agencies that may be able to assist you. The Salvation Army will aid in paying past-due utility bills (apply asap as funds are limited and allocated on a first-come-first-served basis). Good Will gladly supplies clothing to those in need, and there are many churches that will contribute food. I will keep you in my prayers. God bless! -
Congrats, Murph!!!

The Good Rabbi posed this question in a recent post, and I think that the Question deserves examination without hijacking the other thread. This is my answer to the question, Rabbi. We play Creator when we procreate, endeavoring to shape and mold our Hopes into "New and Improved" models of ourselves. The Gift of Life is an unquestioned Miracle, a blessing bearing an eternal responsibility..... Our children hold the Bond on our Bodies and Souls, and we are bound to preserve their existence and insure their survival with our last breath and with every fiber of our being.... Their Soul development also demands we assume godlike attributes, imparting knowledge, demanding compliance, but always Forgiving whenever they err.... not even the Fear of the Unknown and the certainty of Death dampens the Euphoria experienced when one first basks in their child's presence. Even the pain of a passing pales in comparison to the joy of a birth. Anybody else have a take on this?

My wife related to me that the week before she passed, she knew that knew her anniversary was coming up, and she claimed that her husband Harry was coming to take her home ("cause he don't want me to be alone no more"). Since she hadn't been lucid for several months (due to her advanced age and the use of narcotics to ease her pain), the only note of her comment was limited to one sentence written in my wife's daily report ("She remembered her anniversary is coming up.").

On Dec. 11th, 2011, one of my wife's clients passed. She was an 84 year old widow whose only living relative was her son. Back in 1947, the soldier she had waited out the war for came home. Though he was ten years older, they shared the same birthday, were born at the same time of the evening, and they decided to get wed on their birthday. She was 20 when they married, and they lived together for 54 years before he died of the black lung. He died on the night of their 54th anniversary, Dec. 11th, 2001. Their marriage certificate states that he were joined as Man and Wife at 7:35 PM, Dec 11th. 1947. Both lived exactly 84 years. Both died at exactly 7:35 PM. Him on Dec 11th, 2001. Her on Dec. 11th, 2011. I do not believe that coincidence can be stretched but so far...... and though I don't know the odds of something like this happening, I would think that Chance would demand a more radom set of circumstances. (Mods.- I wasn't sure which Topic Heading this should be placed under, so if it's in the wrong slot, please relocate it at your pleasure.)

Dressing Up The Dog For A Holiday - Opposed?
Songster replied to grateful's topic in Hobby/Leisure Archive
My wife and I were visiting our friends- Stan and Rhonda- yesterday evening. While we were there, their dog ("Skank") brought me his Santa hat. When I put it on him, he started prancing around showing everybody. You could tell that he liked wearing it. He had been wearing for about an hour when his "Uncle D" (Stan's brother) came in. Skank went over to greet him, wagging his tail and throwing his head back and forth (making the hat flop around). Uncle D looked at the dog, shook his head, and said "Skank, you look like a little girl with that silly hat on!" Skank immediately quit wagging his tail, gave a snort, and pulled the hat off with his paw. I laughed so hard my sides hurt! Despite continued efforts to put the hat back on him, Skank refused to wear it. -
I still have several questions concerning the application of the law being confined within the borders of the Promised Land, but will wait til you're in the Hot Seat for the answers. (Please note, I did not say that I am not convinced that I am mistaken in my opinion, only that I agree "...to continue with this is futile....")

My opinion echos the Rabbi's.
