RabbiO
Mine remains Peter Yarrow's Light One Candle as performed by Peter, Paul & MaryLight one candle for the Maccabee childrenGive thanks that their light didn't dieLight one candle for the pain they enduredWhen their right to exist was denied.Light one candle for the terrible sacrificeJustice and freedom demand.Light one candle for the wisdom to knowWhen the peacemaker's time is at hand.Chorus: Don't let the light go outIt's lasted for so many yearsDon't let the light go outLet it shine through our love and our tears.Light one candle for the strength that we needTo never become our own foeLight one candle for those who are sufferingThe pain we learned so long ago.Light one candle for all we believe inLet anger not tear us apartLight one candle to bind us togetherWith the peace as the song in our heart.Chorus: Don't let the light go outIt's lasted for so many yearsDon't let the light go outLet it shine through our love and our tearsWhat is the memory that's valued so highlyThat we keep alive in that flame? What's the commitment to those who have diedWhen we cry out, "They've not died in vain." We have come this farAlways believing that justice will somehow prevailThis is the burden and the promiseAnd this is why we will not fail.Chorus: Don't let the light go outIt's lasted for so many yearsDon't let the light go outLet it shine through our love and our tears
Songster
There are several carols that I like, but only two that I can sing (due to my limited range)- "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and "We Three Kings".

Atwater Vitki
"Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer", but then that's prob not what you had in mind now was it?As far as traditional ones, I'd have to agree with "Little Drummer Boy", it's sort of like "Amazing Grace" to me, ballad-ie with a message....but then I've been known to annoy neighbors with bagpipe music as well...go figure! Chris M.
"I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" I love it.For some strange reason "Silent Night" creates deep feelings in me whenever I hear it. Knot in my throat, etc... so I'd have to say it's my favorite.

L. Zamenhof, the man who began the language. For me, I celebrate the holiday as a day of positive steps towards a better world. Every person who takes up the language does so for a different reason, and if they celebrate the day, the manner in which they do so reflects that. I see the language as a positive step towards the human animal living up to its potential. So I celebrate the language, the coming together of people from different cultures, even transhumanism. This afternoon I am meeting with a local Eo club on the campus for a dinner and we've each decided to give a small demonstration of what summed up this year. My own will be a technology demonstration.
grateful
!I did google it of course.. and though your explanation is almost verbatim, I like it better - and I agree, have fun!someone spoke to this above, the way music can affect you, ala a "knot in the throat", .holiday music is no exception - the reasons why it might effect us are more obvious, love and memories?we were always singing - not always well and in key, but we sang, and loudlyI wondered what it was though when I heard a now favorite band from sub saharan africa, tinairwen, I knew the music somehow, and recognized it like an old friendand now I think I'd like to hear nat king cole...
