  1. A most enlightening thread. If God grants me the knowledge of when...a week, a month...then I would like to exit in the style VonNoble relates. Being remembered as someone who made you laugh, especially on your way out, IMO, is a great blessing. I would also like to give things away to my friends. Hmmm, maybe I can start now. I have no fear of dying, though I confess I sometimes am concerned as to the method to be employed.
  2. It's a somber thought to realize how quickly our lives can be changed.
  3. That's how we got rid of squirrels, the cayenne and pepper combo. Be sure to place a sign on the lawn saying it has been treated. You can get one at the hardware store.
  4. I generally ask the couple to directly donate $250 dollars to either St. Jude Hospital or Operation Smile. I take nothing for myself other than accomodations if an overnighter, which I leave to the couple to arrange and, of course, an invitation to the reception if appropriate. For close friends it's free of course, as their wedding gift from me (but they are still encouraged to donate - any sum - to charity).
  5. I think you are feeling some resentment at being judged by someone you care about. Bear in mind, however, that your friend would not be so emphatic (right now) if there was not a concern for you also on her part. Try not to be angry, but always be honest in how you feel.
  6. Being converted to Christianity is like, in a poor comparison, getting a new gadget. You have to go tell everyone how great it is and what it can do. When you have an epiphany of one type or another, you want to share. I enjoy the exhuberance of new Christians. It is the Christians who have been around a while and have not matured nor learned anything that get to me. I was one of them for a long time. Ex-smokers are worse, IMO, as trying to get others to quit. Folks have to realize when they become Christians that does not make them ex-sinners. Peace. PS: This subject is being moved to the appropriate topic area.
  7. God be with you through all this, give you strength, and keep you standing.
  8. If he was truly seeking spiritual help, methinks he would have stayed around. he is not the only one in dire straights or, at least, financial difficulty on this forum. The abrupt departure gives me the same vibes as hyperreal (and others). Sad, because, if his need was truthful, he may have gotten some positive direction through the sharing of our members.
  9. Sorry to hear that Al. Man, it's onething after another for you folks. Im gonna have to step up the praying! Seriously, home invasion really makes us feel vulnerable and violated. And the way things are going, its gonna get worse. We need to pray for each other's safety as well as the spiritual healing. Peace to you and your house. RR
  10. No speeches or sermons for me this year. Just damn proud to have served. To all who were, and are, and will be...I salute you. Peace.
  11. How did I miss this thread?! Of course, Rev Al, my prayers for healing are being sent. Joe
  12. May your family be comforted during this time of grief.
  13. Fingers aint as nimble. I do strum it occasionally, but it is loud. Nice thing though...its hard to play a sad song on a banjo! Click on the back image, there is a nice carved American Eagle.
  14. I am wowed since I have some of your wonderful pieces!
  15. Occasionally I pull out the old (30 years) Matrix guitar and strum some folk songs. Also played (but not anymore) the banjo, which I still have, gave my Casio tone bank (15 years old) to the kid, sold my zithers, trumpet and drum set some time ago. Now I just sing karaoke on Sunday nights.
