Yes. Grace is basically the bestowing of unmerited favor. Each time I was aware of God's grace, it was not because I made promises or vows, or even did anything, other than open my hands (heart) to receive it. I like the way you put that Hex. -

Do you think that as people say you are a nice person, that that has an effect on one's working harder on being the "good person" or is it more a confirmation to us of what we already are? I am thinking along the lines of outside positive/negative input into our psyche.

I had been following Santana's thread about being called bad, and I got to wondering.... I have been told at times that I am a good person. Jesus was called good by someone and He responded, "Why callest thou me good?" Perhaps you have been called good also. What does that mean to you? How does that reflect back on the person who said it from your POV? Just wondering......

Thank you for the kind comments, Rev Al. You know,if it were not for the experiences we have had, none of us would be where we are right now. I too endured hypocrisy (even my own!) and had many doubts throughout my journey. I have stopped confining my God to a box based on human intellect. I trust in his Word, as I understand it, and will continue to do so. But I will also continue to be guided by Him personally. The prodigal son is one who walks away from God and returns, not one who walks with God and leaves his former beliefs. Peace.
