  1. Isn't it an interesting testimoney to the population of this forum that on one of the most important days of any religion, only one person replies, much less replies with anything resembling a warm message about a situation rife with new life messages. As the years go by, I am resigning myself to the fact that most ULC folks are not in any way interested about the best religions has to offer.
  2. Should not every day be earth day?? It's like life day....something everyone should acknowlede all the time?
  3. A person is as bad as their actions. The perception of a person being bad is a reflection of the filters and biases of those making the judgements. If your siblings and their mates think you are bad, and your actions have not been, then I would move on and away from such dysfunction. If, upon deep reflection, you realize you have been bad, then perhaps you should/could make ammends. In the end, in familial situations, being bad is often relative and emotional and a result of a lack of clear communication. THIS, is likely the real issue. Good luck, Mike
  4. Awesome. It seems hate speech is not protected by the First Ammendment. Unfortunately, bad manners, meanness and rudeness is, according to the SC. Amazingly really, given that those things in sum amount to hate speech. A delicate situation, to be sure. I think the SC came down on the wrong side, personally.
  5. You guys sure are good people. I've noticed, too. Hope all is well, and that only a busy life is keeping him posting in a forum.
  6. Unless there are other incriminating circumstances, I do not believe he will be jailed for non-payment of child support. Courts generally view imprisonment as not helping the child(ren) in question, so they generally assign instead a "new plan" by which the deadbeat father can begin paying something to the mother. This often happens by way of wage garnishment. The dude needs to man-up and return to his obiligations.
  7. Too many to remember, really. I think it is about 65 concerts total. I'll try to pop off some of them.... My last concert was Eric Clapton in about 2001 (likely the best concert I have seen) US Festival (1983) which included Ozzy, Judas Preist, Van Halen, Scorpions, and about a dozen other famous bands over a 3 day period Eagles (their Hell Freezes Over tour (1996?) which included all their solo efforts - awesome) Crosby Stills and Nash (long and awesome) Eddie Money (he was slumming at a fair) BTO Arlo Guthrie (he did Alice) Kiss (1978, first concert) George Thorogood Paul Simon Mama and the Papas Aerosmith Ratt Queensreight America AC/DC (in Australia, got lucky) Jimmy Buffet (UCSD Aztec stadium, still got the shark fin hat) Steve Miller Motley Crue (in a cramped little theater in Pasadena, circa 1979) Leon Russell Stevie Ray Vaughn (movie theater, 1986ish, Pensacola) George Straight (a date in TX, with a friends wife ) Ray Charles (Visalia, one of his last appearances, I think) Bruce Hornsby (beach in FLA, it rained, didn't care) ...and many others...Man, I cannot even remember them all. Somewhere in a box in the garage I have a fairly comprehensive list that I have not seen in years. If I remember more, I'll post 'em. Biggest Regrets: Led Zeppelin (had advanced tickets for their 1980 return to L.A., then Bonzo had the audacity to OD prior to the event) Frank Sinatra (had tickets, sold them due to having to pick up my then-wife at the Atlanta airport, PISSED ME OFF) Stones (never had the opportunity) Pink Floyd (never had the opportunity)
  8. Right. Posting history does. Remember, you said you were confused, so I understand this is going nowhere. But I bet you will respond.
  9. Yes, ad nauseum. You might find it interesting to explore the views of others, as well.
  10. I cannot relate. While I try very, Very, VERY hard to smile at everyone, I have no desire to love everybody. To me it would be fake. We have evolved an entire array of emotions and the ability to discern, and I think we should follow those instincts and exercise them all. In doing so, there are people I genuinely dislike. And to use your word, I feel "cleaner" when I admit the truth to myself.
  11. I don't understand. Did she leave the forum? I'm unaware of admins deleting posts.
  12. Amazing Irma, In Post #8, you quoted a person who has left no evidence that she ever participated in this thread. Was that quote cut from a different thread, or has that quoted post been somehow removed from this thread? Or is this a test of intelligent design?
  13. I think we should all endeavor to be a light unto the world. It is a difficult thing to do, sometimes. And sometimes, people don't want the light. Especially when the light is truth.
  14. I am of the opinion that we are only responsible for our actions. I too have an endless barrage of thoughts and images which, at night, keep me awake despite all efforts to the contrary. These are not from external sources....they are from your mind, which is an internal source.
  15. Such bias........ We are all such reprobates. This is what makes us individual human.
  16. Question: Why is it "merry solstice?" Why is it not "natural solstice" or "cyclical solstice?" I mean, solstice is a bi-annual, natural occurence with no emotional meaning, right? It is, in a nuthsell, a demarkation or zenith of the changing of the seasons. Why is that something to be merry about? I would think, much like the passage of time, that it is something to be acknowledged, but not necessarily by itself something to be celebrated. Perhaps I am ignorant about the celebration of the natural events of universal nature. Is it the worship of (ancient) nature that causes people to recognize cyclical shifts as something other than physics?
  17. Ditto. However, I wish even those who don't celebrate Christmas also have a Merry Christmas.
  18. Politics suck!! On that we may agree!! But most of that is from the mouths of pacifists who don't understand the nature of the world..........
  19. Agreed that freedom is not uniquely American. It is, however, preserved in no better fashion than our Constitution. The vast majority of the global human migrants ultimately agree, it seems. But, whatever.... An interesting side note.....once upon a time I seriously considered becoming a citizen of your excellent county. I have visited your nation many times, always loved the experience. On one such occasion I met a woman who stole my heart, tantilized my brain and worshipped my body, and she convinced me I should move there and become a duel-citizen. I came very, very close to doing so. What I respected most about the process at that time (late 80s) was that Australia required an "economic need" for an immigrant prior to allowing citizenship. Gosh, what a concept....if only America was as prudent as that. Cheers, Spectic Tank Yank (an endearment I have heard all too often Down Under)
