  1. Dear Samtttl, Welcome to the Forum. You know naught of what you ask. Belief systems are as differnet as the individuals that hold them. And argue naught any of them, as to do so is to stab at the individual heart. Such is the nature of belief systems. I once originally coined the faith and philosophy of Golfism (adopted by a few and shared freely without compensation, as all good faiths must).....and have since long lost the scriptures....and since then the interweb has exploded with opportunistic copycats and other folks sucking up any and all URLs and niche market terms, and as such the original dogma may have been lost to history.
  2. So, somehow, in the last century, we have knowledge of, and thus confirm the existence of, our "darkness??" All of a sudden, the "demons" we once upon a time projected onto mythical fables is now a stain upon us humans? What of all the eons prior to this last century? Are we to assume from this quote of yours that we are all of a sudden a soiled species??? Based on what, creative, progressive, self-indulgent, self-loathing literature? Methinks not....
  3. I’d rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University. — William F. Buckley All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. — Edmund Burke Out of every hundred new ideas ninety-nine or more will probably be inferior to the traditional responses which they propose to replace. No one man, however brilliant or well-informed, can come in one lifetime to such fullness of understanding as to safely judge and dismiss the customs or institutions of his society, for those are the wisdom of generations after centuries of experiment in the laboratory of history. — Will And Ariel Durant “The America Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.” — Alexis de Tocqueville I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer. — Ben Franklin Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have. — Barry Goldwater I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. — Thomas Jefferson Compassion is defined not by how many people are on the government dole but by how many people no longer need government assistance. — Rush Limbaugh Millions of individuals making their own decisions in the marketplace will always allocate resources better than any centralized government planning process. - Ronald Reagan I hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts. - Ronald Reagan Conservatives have excellent credentials to speak about human rights. By our efforts, and with precious little help from self-styled liberals, we were largely responsible for securing liberty for a substantial share of the world’s population and defending it for most of the rest. - Margaret Thatcher Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence. — George Washington If liberalism was so great, why must it be mandated? - Happy
  4. Funny. But really, 93? Wow. You must live an awfully clean life! OR, you entered the data wrong, LOL... How about Al Pacino years? Good point....
  5. http://www.deathclock.com/ Not precisely scientific, but very sobering nevertheless.....might make one ponder, and/or perhaps live a differently.... Food for thought, at the very least!! Hoping this helps in some small way, Mike
  6. It is true. I stand corrected. That is a rare thing, you know!! Nevertheless, you did not answer my questions. But at least now, in this thread, I know why.....
  7. Intersting. But you won't answer questions??
  8. So, you did not want people answering your questions??? Odd, I thought you were looking for a conversation on the topic you posted. Breath deep, the gathering gloom watch lights fade from every room...
  9. A little thing like sovereignty in a growing world cannot be overstated, or over-protected. Given the facts and reality of our world, I think it is a silly question that you ask. Do you own your own home? Do you ever desire to do so? If so, would you not want it protected? Or would you freely allow squatters, ala the Occupy Crowd, to ascend on your property and do as they desire?
  10. Very. Very much so. Critical in establishing standards and discipline. One of the points of parenting is to make humans prepared to be good adults. Raising undisciplined animals, as is so often the case these days, provides no positive value to society, and only creates a drag on the community and governments (and thus, tax payers and the economy) who are left to deal with it.
  11. One of the keys is to fill the void. In addition to whatever else you are doing, fill the void. Adopt a physical workout routine, for example. That not only compliments your endeavors, but it replaces one habitual routine for another. It is 1+1= 3. Trust me!! Keep doing what you are doing, but replace the addiction. Get it?
  12. As with most things in life, you gotta wanna. If you're not at that point, it aint going to happen.
  13. Probably the most versatile voice in Rock. Rob Halford comes close, but Freddie the Turk definately had the vocal skills to put him in any Hall of Fame.
  14. I am glad you were talking about just some Joe, and not our Majesty Joe.

  16. It is cool that you have that. I have several favorite books in my collection, depending on if we are talking about fiction or non-fiction, but certainly nothing as sentimentally special as your wonderful find. I have some rare and old tombs dating back to the 19th and early 20th century, but nothing I call a favorite or something that gives me comfort.
  17. Not pertinent. If they get married in France, they must investigate if their marriage is legal here in the US. It probably is, but there may be some paperwork and the obligatory machine-feeding fee involved, given that the federal government has unconstitutionally consumed it (vice being a STATE issue per the constitution), and therefor in whatever state they settle they must inquire as to the legal validity/applicablity of their union. I image they will have no issue regardless. However, when in doubt, seek a money-hungry lawyer who will be more than happy to satisfy the legal requirements for a fee.
  18. This one fits me just about right.....
  19. Listen all the way through........ Nuff said....
  20. One of the only times my mind is pure is when I play golf. As such, walking in a circle doesn't really work. Even on bad days when I play Army golf (hitting it to the left, then hitting it to the right, left right, left right), a zig zag pattern is the closest I can come to a circle. I generally prefer a straight line. Then again, if I ever want to get back to my car, I must eventually get turned around.....so, it is a good thing golf courses are set up in straight lines that go different directions, eventually leading back to the starting point. Much more fun and productive than a circle, which I would think would make me dizzy. Edited to add: I recall years ago inventing and posting here a thing called Golfism. Anyone remember that?
