  1. I think I was about 14 years old when I came to realize that I had to exist before anything could matter to me which in turn led me to believe that I had to be the most important person in the world from my perspective. That doesn't mean I would not be willing to die for another but if I did do so, nothing else would ever matter.
  2. What one does for another is just being kind and responsive to another's needs. What one gives to the church is a tithe and is expected. Least ways that is how I learned it when I professed to be Baptist.
  3. I stand for the Pledge of Allegiance out of respect to those around me. I do not recite the Pledge nor do I salute the flag. The same is true for the National Anthem.
  4. I will hold you and your brother close in my thoughts and meditations.
  5. I will hold you and your family close in my thoughts and meditations.
  6. Thank you, Songster. There is no need to apologize, though I do appreciate your kindness in doing so.
  7. Everything I have ever done, every decision I have made has led me where I am now. I am very happy with my life. I cannot regret anything that has brought me here. You may call me what you will.
  8. Perhaps, then, it is singular to me. I do not do guilt. I do not seek forgiveness.
  9. Rationalizing one's behavior prevents guilt and only the guilty need forgiveness. We all rationalize our actions and reactions, some more than others.
  10. We receive feed back from birth to grave. This feedback is as much a part of our environment as the air we breathe. That feedback, along with other environmental influences ( to include family and ethnic histories), give us our sense of who we are as well as our sense of self worth.
  11. I think the stage play relies more on the visual imagination to make up for the limited sets than it does the words. I have seen nearly every film version of A Christmas Carol and many were word for word with the written story. I have also seen word for word stage plays of the same. The limited sets of the stage play did nothing to take away from the story. It is also interesting how a properly produced stage play can come up with some fascinating special effects without the aid of "trick" photography. Though an abridgement, the stage play of The Lion King was a marvel of costuming and much more entertaining ( to my wife and I) than the feature cartoon which had seemed aimed at child audiences.
  12. In it's simplest form A/atheists simply do not believe there is a G/god (s). An Agnostic does not know, and therefore neither believes nor disbieves if there is a G/god (s). An A/atheist cannot feel G/god had no hand in what happens because they believe there is no G/god.
  13. I do my best to treat everyone respectfuly but that does not mean I respect everyone. When a person comes into my life for the first time, they are at zero on my respect scale. Without fail they will either teach me to respect them or teach me they are a waste of my time. Since I have been retired, it is wonderful to exercise my freedom of association.
  14. It is hard to give something one does not possess.
  15. Now, now, Jonathan H. B. Lobl, you have often expressed your disdain for labels. Change of heart and mind?
  16. Logic has nothing to do with how the human brain interprets reality. As far as degrees are concerned, I have known way too many people who have never allowed their education to get in the way of their ignorance and biases. As far as the pompous arse in question, I was quite entertained by his rantings.
  17. The natural order is magic at its highest level.
  18. The magic has been working at least for as long as I have been alive. It has yet to fail me.
  19. Thou Art G/god Hearthwitch. I am but a humble wizard.
