Lessons In Apologetics, Part 1: Introduction & Agnosticism
Seeker replied to DoctorIssachar's topic in Philosophy & Theory
All the reporting I saw gave the impression that he was killed for criticizing the Saudi government. Where is this "leaving the faith" motive coming from? -

Apologies for a late entry - I've been without internet since before Christmas. Wishing you all all the best for 2019 and beyond. -

Welcome to the forum. -
See that's just typical of modern society. You get rid of a load of soiled soil by just dumping it in the ground and leaving it for others to stumble across. Is that the legacy we want to leave? Won't somebody please think of the children.

Hello and welcome Lynne. -
What do you do...?
Seeker replied to Cornelius's topic in Interpath Dialogue, Universal Virtues and Values
I was responding to Cuchulain's "will it make you a better person?". The context there seems to me to imply a conscious choice. I think its a mixture - we think about where we are internally led. There's a saying I like it that respect - man(kind) is not a rational animal, but a rationalizing animal. In that view we do, and then we find reasons for what we have done. I don't think that's the whole truth, but IMHO it is a lot closer to the mark than the alternative. -

I wasn't denying that in the slightest. My point was that with a shift in belief there often comes a shift in what you see as better. Thus whether you are a "better" person depends on what you believe and doesn't really help you decide whether to change your beliefs. -

That becomes problematic if you're redefining "better" in the process. -

Thanks for the heads-up Pete. I hope you are wrong. Luis is good people.

Surely non-belief is more agnosticism. Atheism I take as more of an active disbelief, and I think there is some call to enquire why. Not a requirement, but sufficient interest to merit a thread. -
Calling UK Ministers

So in your original post you say "without walls". The act you cited is all about registering the walls. Again I ask - for what purpose? If you have a property that you intend to run as a physical place of worship, then by all means register. You don't need a group of ministers to do that. -
Asking for a critique....
Seeker replied to Taliesin2's topic in Good Wishes, Gratitude, Blessings and Prayers
Presumably because the assistant project manager in question is Christian. You have a good selection of sources, but IMHO they don't flow well together. I would suggest you forget about quoting - you're not conducting a lesson. Just ask for what you want, in Gods name. -

Just in case you were not aware, ULC.net has been down a lot over the past few days. No details, it just hangs. Checked with isup.me, and they reported it down, too. -

Please explain what you mean by "register". With whom, and by what process? As I understand the law, the only relevant purpose would be to secure recognition from the Inland Revenue that you were acting as a charity. There is no list of approved churches in the UK. -
As I read this, it is concerned with buildings, and their usage. It is nothing to do with the recognition of the faith.

The alignment of the beam splitter appears incorrect to me, but we really have strayed well off topic. -

Speed is distance divided by time. They measured the distance, and they measured the time.
