  1. Chilled glasses await The family gathering. Swooping low above Migrating geese coming home. And so the ice is melted. ... I'm not sure, but I think that might be actually sorta good?
  2. ~ I actually did understand your analogy... I was touching on the 'come along my friend' as perhaps a re-uniting & the gold as newly found. ... I know, I'm a pain in the tush! Come along my friend to a place just past the bend. Where flow hits a wall there the golden nuggets fall gladly waiting to be found. ... Yep, I think ya ought to go with that!
  3. ~ Check & Double-check! Where are your balls, lost in hallowed halls or Ooops! Your fear's got em on a key chain displayed & played with dangling from a mirror. That's just not nice, huh? Tough stuff happens when you don't hold on. ... I don't know. Don't ask me where this comes from.
  4. ~ So, have you read the poem I made for my Father? That's an uncomfortable bit for most.
  5. ~ Naaah, this one's all on me. Started drinking early & the comp's a dial-up at 26.4 kbps right now... {Yes, I know, dino-riding primitive I am! } I'm not about to complain about a free place where I can complain & such!
  6. ~ You are a darling! Perhaps? Come along my friend to a place just past the bend. Where flow hits a wall there the golden nuggets fall. Waiting to be found again. ... Just a suggestion!
  7. OK. My slow computer & slower me screwed up! I double posted the Tanka thread & so... seeing the poll thingy, I, y'know, played with that!
  8. ~ Tanka is a poetry form that's sorta strict. Syllable count is 5-7-5-7-7. The first two lines have an image, 3rd & 4th have a different image, the 5th ties them together. My attempt... Only the wind sings Now that the house is empty. The birds have all flown Far away with the summer. I am left behind wingless. Anyone else willing to try a strictured poety form? No rhyming necessary! {It's a Japanes form. Like haiku, the point is not to rhyme. Of course in Japanese it's trickier not to rhyme than to :lol}
  9. ~ Wooo! I did all that??? You're welcome
  10. ~ That's a lovely thought belissima! But I'm afraid his determination of nothing after death at all still holds him. Y'know? I never heard him laugh.
  11. ~ I wrote this in 2003. Years after my Father died. I was once again weeping & it poured out in tears. {Yes, I know it's not a rhyming piece, or even minimally balanced. Sorry.} harsh cold towering dark granite shadows you smoothly glacier faced icy fjords in ward numbing silence deep echoes kept rebound tightly held places chill you keeping depths untouchable rebuffing the world shining hard cold stone binding you ... I don't know why I felt the need to share this here now. He died Dec. 26, not even close yet. Just a thing.
  12. ~ Crap. Not you guys! & certainly not the poem! Me. I *ahemed* & then didn't post my point! {I'm such a...} That's a truly cool poem! Thank you for sharing it! ... OK, back to your spicy oysters
  13. ~ Just wondering, is the 'Thank you' for making you uncomfortable? I do have other oddness that would probably make ya chafe! If ya want. Thank you for the replies & encouragement! I was trying something with the line-breaks & common phrases obviously. What was lost Is Found the whats and whos To say it's past or presence Given or taken away to the where Are we going to know the way Ward the paths we trace <'all> instead of 'the'> The pattern was etched golden Rules no longer apply What was lost Is Found the whats and whos To say it's past or presence Given or taken away to the where Are we going to know the way Ward the paths we trace The pattern was etched <'all' instead of 'the'> golden Rules no longer apply ... Hmmm, need to change some, huh? I do doodle along with my babble... Sorry to be a bother!
  14. ~ Just working with an annoyance... Suggestions? What was lost Is Found the whats and whos To say it's past or presence Given or taken away to the where Are we going to know the way Ward the paths we trace The pattern was etched golden Rules no longer apply ... I know, it's an oddness. Sorry.
  15. ~ Romantic poetry is harder to write than most think, huh? You did a great job of it! You deserved the ripped-off award.
  16. ~ I'm on the comp in a room where I can't see what's on the T.V. & so I find it fun to guess from what I hear. I'm often wrong but often close. Last night I heard the music & yelled out, "It's the one with the windmill & fly in the beginning! Fonda's the bad guy!" ... Yep, 'How the West was won.' {The only film where Henry Fonda portrayed a bad guy. & did it evilly great!} How often could you get the right film with just the opening music or noise? Not seeing it. Just hearing it. ... This is a really goofy dumb topic, huh? ~ How about dating them? It's pretty easy to date a movie by hair & clothing. 'Period' movies recreate such pretty well, including the music. BUT, where & when the music is used in a film, background noises, different now than then. Some are easier, 50s, 60s sci-fi by the woooEeeeyooo background, etc. But generally, just by sound, no visual, could you date a movie?
  17. ~ That's actually {well, don't want to call it lovely...} very good! Really, you are a Poet. & if anyone wants to debate it, I'll give 'em crap. Because you are a Poet.
  18. ~ YO! *ahem* Can I interrupt just for a sec? Thank you!
  19. ~ You are an Artiste. Trully! You are absolutely marvy!!!
  20. ~ Y'know Philsy, there is a market for that! You do it sooo very well!!! Perhaps you need to be haunted to publish?
  21. ~ Okay... I apologize for intruding. I shouldn't have, you're quite right. I'm sorry.
  22. ~ Fred? I honestly don't intend any kind of criticism! This is beautiful!!! I've just this sort of compulsion... {Tell me I'm being a bitch & I will leave be, honest!} I just have a 'thang' about line-breaks & such...
