  1. No takers? OK, I'll continue, lets move to Morocco and experience the Marrakesh express:
  2. Oh Raven;s Trikes, just thought about a song about Liverpool: Little Jimmy Osmond's Long Haired Lover: Com on folks, don't let me be the only one who comes up with 'city' songs!
  3. Jerusalem: "Yerushalayim Shel Zahav", a beautiful rendition of this great song:
  4. The idea is a song where a city is mentioned in the lyrics. Here is the next one: Capri Fisher (Capri is not a city really a small island in Italy, but one of my favorite places): And across from Capri is Sorrento and then I think of Pavarotti: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzg8DTzh4yk
  5. Montreux in Switzerland : Who is next with a city?
  6. In my case it would be a top 5 of composers, their collected works: 1. Bach 2. Handel 3. Mozart 4. Schumann 5. Wagner
  7. So basically you build your whole faith on your idea of Jesus who may even be fictional? Paul wrote that if Jesus did not physically resurrect from the death there would not be a point to Christianity, it seems to me you take it one step further, it seems Jesus does not even have to exist in your mind. So is the foundation of your faith any different than say someone building his faith on say Spiderman or a Jedi?
  8. Anything with keys: harpsichord, piano, Hammond A-100, synths and samplers and accordion. Some guitar, base and traverso as well.
  9. I suppose for some spirituality is all OK as long as it does not intend to change or criticize the world, then it is a problem and called political.
  10. I think the federal government does a laughable bad job in both protecting our borders against trespassing and preventing drugs to cross our borders. But apart from my opinion I question your logic, if the federal government does not do enough to prevent trespassing how could it possibly do enough to prevent drugs to pass our borders? I mean a trespasser could carry a load of drugs right? As I understand it the USA-Mexican border is where most of the drugs enter the USA.
  11. First of all let me thank you for posting this. Your little tidbits about education in other postings made me suspect you have solid opinions on and experience in education. And my suspicions turned out to be true! I think this is refreshing and true. Those of nobility know this from birth and it stretches from learning manners and discipline to become socially effective to getting an education in order to become a contributor to society to choosing a good partner to extend the family line. . I agree with that up to an extent. I think that children are often not capable of making good decisions because they lack life experience or intellectual maturity. In those cases I believe the parents (or the family) have the responsibility to keep them from falling in case they make bad decisions. However I would think that it is also important to learn discipline. I think discipline is not designed to stifle creativity or individualism but to make things work, whether it is working from 9 to 5 or following SEC regulations.
  12. Do you think the federal government does enough, too little or too much to protect our borders from trespassing and drugs?
  13. Read this: http://brainz.org/30-cases-extreme-police-brutality-and-blatant-misconduct/ It is not only the brutality but in some cases they get away with no punishment. What I think we need is a people's police force not some neo-fascists organization which thinks it can step on anything without retribution.
  14. What is your opinion of smoking when children are present. For instance in California it is against the law to drive a car and smoke while children are present. However currently people cannot be stopped just for that offense and tickets can only be given if the driver was stopped for another reason. What's your opinion?
  15. Hmmm, well if he has issues with other people living near him then I fear a resolution of the situation is becoming less probable. Unless he is a violent or dangerous person I would at this stage recommend you, and at least two other neighbors to go over to his house and ask him if he is willing to talk about the issues in your neighborhood. Make sure it is not threatening and make him understand that you are also willing to listen to his possible gripes as well. Remember this is not the time to argue, it is the time to perhaps reconcile differences, if that does not work do not argue and simply leave. From then on you have two tracks: 1. Make him pay for it Record in a log every single instance he lets his dog do his thing on your lawn. Make several video recordings of the event. Get if possible several affidavits from your neighbors that have seen him doing it. Send him at least two certified letters requesting him to stop his actions. The point is you are preparing evidence for a case. Then sue him in small claims court for cleanup fees. If he continues, you continue to sue him. 2. Have him evicted. This is very hard and next to impossible when the complaint comes from only one neighbor. However if several neighbors have continuous complaints about him it is possible. Again key is the collection and registration of evidence. If he is renting the place take the evidence to the homeowner. The landlord will be compelled to bring it up to the renter because if he is not he himself may become subject to litigation. If there is a homeowners association taker it to the designated person. In case he is the homeowner eviction is very hard and based on what I perceive here not feasible, however if he rents it is very well possible. But key is: 1. To log all events, and include a few video recordings. 2. To show proof he is notified by certified mail at least twice. 3. Affidavits from neighbors. He might stop if the landlord gets involved.
  16. Did you have conversations with your other neighbors? They may know him longer and can perhaps give you advice on how to proceed or even help out.
  17. I am glad the situation has not escalated. When someone is in error sometimes the best approach is to let him acknowledge it without losing to much face rather than being confrontational about it. Also I am quite shocked by some of the 'fighting fire with fire' suggestions here, I suspect most would consider themselves some kind of minister of the religion of their choice and I thought that peace, patience and understanding would be the first recommendation most would give.
  18. Looks more like a language to me. For instance according to the federal government a person from Spain is Latino/Hispanic and a person from say Peru as well. So what else does a person from Spain and Peru have in common except that they speak the same language? If you say well they all have Spanish ancestors than why would we not call Portuguese or Italian an ethnicity as well? Last time I checked there are a lot of Brazilians who speak Portuguese and the USA has a lot of Italian-Americans. To me it does not make any sense.
