  1. thank you sean and quetzel well, my better half just returned from a week on the east coast to celebrate her birthday with her .. we are cautiously optimistic (but not unrealistic), she appears to have turned a corner in a positive direction. when I skyped with her last week, I had a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that the doctors had recommended hospice (she went to the aquarium in baltimore with the kids instead!) keep the very powerful mojo coming and namaste
  2. great news! I do that too and the money IS great more than the money though is that I just LOVE my visitor dogs, it's a pleasure to have them. I had two little ladies for two weeks for boarding and training this summer - their people said I didn't charge enough, and included an enormous tip (!). I have six steady walking clients, one has three bernese mountain dogs check out vistaprint - I got 250 business cards for ten dollars, it took me about fifteen minutes to design and order, check it out and best of luck! when I buy my new house I'm putting in a dog bone shaped wading pool for them
  3. I think that each one of us who loves and cares for animals makes an enormous difference (yo, where's the paw print emoji?) because we care about them, we talk about them to other people and our love and respect for them begins to spread I'm not a bumper sticker person but I do have one, it just says wag .. I can also recognize a fellow member of the dog spit club from quite a distance nothing says "I've been to the dog park" like the windows of a dog lover when I worked in the community, I had a lot of opportunity to talk to kids and their families about pets . I never preached, just tried to find common ground and work from there one young mom, who I adored I should add, got a proper dressing down when she tried to convince me that the little six week old pup in her hands was a really good decision for her and her baby .. I just reminded her that little mr precious in her hands was going to be seventy five pounds in about six months, and that he would eat, alot, and that she lived in a one bedroom apartment, and she worked, and she went to school and she had trouble managing already, oh, and he would require housebreaking (she lived on the third floor) I think everyone should enjoy a companion animal if they're of a mind, but I think the responsibility that goes along with it cannot be stressed enough
  4. if I were still a pre-school teacher, my kids would know this song and their teachers heart and we'd be signing clear as day
  5. stop it. it was nothing but a pleasure and a privilege to help a little guy find his way home
  6. thank you - she had a great weekend so far (time away from the poison and all) I appreciate the blessings from each of you more than words can say
  7. this prayer made me cry a little, sometimes when I beg the universe, I struggle for words, I am grateful that you shared these to use
  8. the first on the railroad almost safely home new thread, the starfish story, you know "how can I possibly make a difference, there are millions" well, it mattered to that one, didn't it? >^..^<
  9. whatever small thing we can do even if it's just donating the money for a car seat cover for the future of a pile of adorable puppies in foster or loaning a car for pickup of a grey guy in need >^..^<
  10. despite my tendency for magical thinking, I know that my dear sister-in-law and friend is facing the battle of her life. breast cancer and a double mastectomy has taken its toll, and as if that wasn't bad enough, now a fast growing cancer in her lungs. they are doing one more round of chemo and then stopping. the tumors are growing despite the treatment... she is only 43 years old. she has a five year old son and a thirteen year old daughter she says one day at a time and that she will live in the moment, brave and clever girl prayers, blessings, wishes and spells all welcome for her and everyone facing this today
  11. gorgeous! thank you for that (I think I heard about that pretty fantastic rainbow ) lucky!
  12. very sorry for your loss rabbi, my deepest and most sincere condolences to you and your family
  13. I made the mistake of going to petfood express on sunday where I was immediately greeted by at least twelve pups of various ages and conformations looking for homes. the little ones were sponsored by a no kill shelter group, st.francis of assisi. they were each and every one, so sweet. forget the car seat cover I'd wandered in to purchase .. I am in the same position you are viking, and while my pack has at times been rather large, we are now maxed out at one dog, two cats for a number of reasons. when we have visitor dogs in we're totally over the top .. but the plan for the new year calls for a bigger place, room for my business and a new pup, and now after meeting those beautiful little spirits, room to foster again . then all I can think of is my foster who ended up staying for fourteen years and I question my resolve to be just a stop on their way to their real home
  14. spay and neuter. educate, that's what's up to us, the advocates
  15. and thank you reverend troy for reminding me that vietnam speaks I watched the video again because I saw your post (sometimes I hum it to myself, amazing, right?)
  16. I had the privledge of living near one of the finest vet hospitals in the country. and unfortunately, I have had to avail myself of their services on more than one occasion. they may have a few special discount programs but are otherwise astronomically expensive. frequently overheard at the dog park, "oh no! you had to go to penn?"
  17. maddening, are you kidding? but way to advocate viking! and on a few levels, vets who are unable to fit some pro bono work into their busy schedules and people who don't consider, when getting a cat or a dog, that vet care might be necessary at some point - and then of course those rescuers left to clean up and fund the mess, sheesh my vet back east was old school. like brother devon's, he would always give me a discount for my fosters, bless him. he had been my vet for twenty five years though, and was in a solo practice. he knew that he was saving a rescue organization (and me) some much needed capital the cost of vet care astounds even me - I've had emergency surgeries due to the ingestion of non-edible items, oral cancer, run of the mill spay and neuters and elder care. we always kept it simple, use homeopathic remedies mostly and we have been lucky too each one reach one, teach one has amazing and far flung results it does my crusty old heart good to think about the possibility that a number of young adults really love and respect companion animals because of their dog loving pre-school teacher - who loved to tell dog stories and was known to bring hers to school on occasion. I'm proud to be fairydog/cat mother to a few four leggeds out there each one reach one teach one <3 (sarah loved the picture and is due back next week cross fingers - your friend on the underground railroad )
  18. welcome! one of my first experiences with reiki included shamanic drumming .. pretty.amazing. what I saw a little boy, four years old with a diagnosis of autism, turned to me, looked straight into my eyes and said "more", he had never uttered a word up until this point and seldom if ever made eye contact.. (I was working with an occupational therapist who happened to be a reiki master, a privlege to learn from someone so gifted
