  1. So far this year rain has not hit us that hard, but come Spring and Summer we might be offering free rain water to whoever has a need for it. Hermano Luis
  2. "For hatred can never put an end to hatred; love alone can. This is an unalterable law. People forget that their lives will end soon. For those who remember, quarrels come to an end soon" (The Dhammapada of Lord Buddha).
  3. I am not a Christian, but in my religious tradition the ancient texts have always insisted that there is only one God. This one God has been called by different Names and worshipped in different was. To me this one God is the Ocean of Life: Origin, Middle, and End of everything. We respect the Oneness of the Divine, as well as the many Names that It has received. I understand that the word God is not God, nor are any of the Names that have been given to God the real Name of God. To be honest, I do not believe that God has a Name. But I also call that Supreme Reality by different Names, God is just one of them. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  4. Many religions are accepting women into their priesthoods. In almost all religions of the world, women have distinguished themselves as contemplative mystics. They have also been spiritual teachers of many of the male members of the priesthood. But stil there are many women that are deprived of their right to hold the priesthood. Time will come when women will participate openly in all the aspects of the spirituality of their religion. Here in my region of the world women have taken a very important part in their respective religions. Hermano Luis
  5. I have various favorite religious texts: The Srimad Bhagavad Gita The Vedic Upanishads The Dhammapada The Gospel of Thomas The Sermon on the Moun (Matthew ,Chapters 5,6,7)
  6. I think that if I were to join that group I would be thrown out before posting. I am a strong believer in the philosophy of the ULC: freedom of religion and ethical living. Hermano Luis
  7. I understand that every person should have the freedom to believe as they want and to call themselves as they understand that they should be called. Hermano Luis
  8. Prayers will be said for your friend. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  9. Today the Hindu world celebrates the Birth of the Bhagavad Gita. Even though the Bhagavad Gita, better known as the Gita, is not the principle spiritual book of the Hindu religions, it is one of its better known books. The Srimad Bhagavad Gita is found in the Mahabharata, the World's, longest epic poem. The Gita is seen by many Hindus as the "Word of God" or should I say, as "The Song of God." It is an allegorical dialogue between God (Sri Bhagavan Krishna) and Man (Prince Arjuna). The Gita is one of the best known books of Hinduism. It is not only venerated by Hindus, but also by people of many other religions. It was the spiritual guide of Mahatma Gandhi, and it has been my intimate companion for over fifty years. 10. Self-knowledge is the path to humility. Do not despair, that is the path of all true minister-priests. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  11. In my heart, he will always be a Great Soul, a Mahatma. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  12. Many of us, if not all of us, have had to deal with our personal demons. Some of us have been successful, and others are still dealing with many of those negative issues. When we understand that we have some serious issues to deal with is when the process of healing begins. It has never been an easy path, but we have to begin by facing those demons. There is a Buddhist saying that says, "Even loss and betrayal can bring us awakeining." Buddhist and Vedic style meditations have helped me along those difficult moments, but what has helped me most is the faith that I have that I can conquer those demons. 13. Lordie, most religions in the world have been male dominated. Nevertheless women have always taken a strong position in their religion. It is men who have made the male image of God. God is a Supreme Being neither male nor female. Look aroound and you will find in almost all the religions of the world -- Christian and none Christian religions -- the distinguished participation of our sisters. You have as much a right to preach as any man. I have known some fine women preachers. Many blessings to you. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  14. Many blessings to you. A beautiful dream! Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  15. That was simply wonderful. Thank you! Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  16. I believe in reincarnation, but it must be understood that this is another doctrine in many religions. To believe something does not make it true. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  17. Pete's post makes a lot of sense to me as a none Christian. I do not believe that there is a book that can be considered the "Word of God' or to be considered "infallible". The ancient sages wrote about their divine experiences in human terms, but it must be understood that the divine experience is "wordless". The texts that they wrote have spiritual value for everyone who searches for spiritual understanding, for they offer inspiration and guidance. We fail when we convert those text into dogmas. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  18. In the Bhagavad Gita, God says: "I am the soul in the heart of all beings" (Gita 10:20). I believe that. We all abide with the Beloved One.
  19. Thank you, Pete. That is how many of us who are not Christians understand God. The Vedas, the Avesta, and other none Biblical texts have also told of a Supreme God. God is the God of all.
  20. In my spiritual tradition we also have special meditations on each Equinox and on each Solstice. ¡Peace! Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  21. When we have lost our faith in a spiritual path, we must turn to the original teachings before abandoning tht path. Go back to the teachings of Jesus Christ and re-study those teachings. Then ask yourself, "Have I turned away from the teachings of Jesus Christ or have I turned away from what others say are the teachings of Jesus Christ?" This can be applied to any spiritual tradition: always go back to the original teachings before changing your spiritual path. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  22. We walk our path with freedom. Technically I am a Roman Catholic, my parents were Roman Catholics: my mother was very devout, my father was a freemason, and I decided to be free. I walk a Hindu-Buddhist-Christian spirituality, and I feel good as a minister of the ULC. Let us be who we are. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
  23. I have always felt that nobody can walk your spiritual path for you. Walk your path as you see fit. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage
