  1. The painfully poor punctuation of both chapters, and the audacious proclimation that it is a "Masterpiece," did not allow me to fully appreciate your great efforts. This is my shortcoming. I will, however, make another attempt to appreciate this at another time. Best Regards, A Young Kid With a Dream
  2. As a percentage, very few songs nowadays have lyrics beyond a cereal box or 1st grade attempt at a rhyme, which generally only plays to the least common denominator.. But of course, there are exceptions.....Diana Crawl and Nickel Creek come to mind. And others. Few lyrics today have much meaning nowadays. But again, as denoted by my smilies, I was largely making a humorous point in my previous post. I see your proclivity, but you may get more purchase picking your nose, instead of people. I agree 100%
  3. Ohga Ohga Ohga Chucka, Ohga Ohga Ohga Chucka...... Hooked on a Feeling, by Blue Swede (sorry, I could not go to bed with that in my head) 'Nite, Chucka.......
  4. We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun... -Terry Jacks Rock the boat, don't rock the boat baby, rock the boat.... - The Hues Corporation Put the lime in the coconut, she drank it all up... - Nilsson Who's gunna steal the show, you know it's the guitar man... - Bread (ok, not exactly a one-hit wonder, but the song came to me in my revere) {the sound of dueling banjos} - I forget...but a great tune and a theme to a great movie I am not sure why lyrics come to me so easily....I can remember almost any song from '65 to '85, yet I cannot remember the names of the countless women with whom I have had sex. Priorities man, priorities!!! I really should make a list. Which reminds me....where in the hell are all the song writers today? A rhetorical questions.....they are all dumbed by nintendo and the undisciplined progressive generation that has no skills whatsoever. Wait a minute...."put the lime in the coconut" is some form of genius? Not. But, at least they could play musical instruments and write. What ever happened to Leon Russell? Such is life......
  5. Now THIS is my kind of thread..... Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right.....here I am, stuck in the middle with you. - Stealers Wheel Give me the beat boys.. that frees my soul... I want to get lost your rock and roll... and drift away.... - Dobie Gray Let her cry for she's a lady, let her dream for she's a child, let the rain fall upon her...for she's a free and gentle flower growing wild... - Skylark Ah, to name just a few..... A couple of years ago I had a long-lasting thread on this forum similar to this where I quoted lyrics and others figured out who the band was....but with the internet, it really was not much of a deal....but it seemed many erstwhile folks enjoyed it. Oh well..... Rock on..... El Chico
  6. Exactly. By the way...what of her 4yo child? Child endangerment is all that comes to mind. Those inspired by her "story" will likely overlook that little irrelevency.
  7. I confess I only watched part one. My first response is: why on earth was her 4yo son in the front seat at all, much less without a child seat? Hello?? Secondly, how did her car end up upside down?? She seems to have glossed over that little fact. I do not know what the point of parts 2-4 are, but I get the impression that she needed to focus more on her kids and her own health than anything else. But I could be wrong.
  8. Film freaks? It seems not. Freaks? Quite clearly. It also seems obvious that the conservative position clearly won in HollyWeird this year....even Jon Stewert was even-handidly moderate.
  9. That is awesome. And I bet there is a movie in there, somewhere!
  10. Surprisingly: Shrek, Shrek II Legally Blonde Something About Mary Every Which Way But Loose You Got Mail ...and I am sure there are others.....
  11. I'm not sure we know enough to suggest that this recommendation about a movie (presumably based upon beliefs and opinions, and preached to the choir, so to speak) is encouraging closed minds and intolerance.
  12. No doubt that the homo-phobes are against the movie. But are you categorizing all people that are turned-off by scenes of homosexual intercourse as homo-phobes? I for one am turned-off by it, or at least the male manifestation of it, but am far from a homo-phobe. Isn't it possible that people can not like the concept or movie, but not be unfairly marginalized as a -phobe? Just food for thought. Regards, Mike (A Lesbian Trapped in a Man's Body)
  13. Nothing about the premise excites me enough to dole out $8-10. I heard that it is cinematically wonderful, but that the plot, and one of the rather unsavory opening scenes, is...um...hard to swallow, so to speak. Then again, I rarely see movies anymore...maybe 1-2 per year, so I really have to get motivated to do so.
  14. I was unable to discern from this thread what on earth Von did to help others. If it was mentioned in another thread, I missed it. So, I PM'd him, and asked. What I found out was that a good man did a good deed for people who really needed it when he had no obligation to do so. Thus, it is with an easy and warm heart that I echo what the others here have said in saying that whatever kudos come your way are much deserved!! V/r, Mike
  15. At first, I explored the idea through an internet link that advertised the option, as I was curious. I discovered that the idea of being ordained via the internet was both real and legal, so I broached the subject with the she-devil that was my then-wife. She, a faux-Catholic of rather narrow perspective, considered ULC evil, satanic, subversive, and a waste of time, just as she had considered the venerable institution of Freemasonry in which I had previously been initiated. The wretched woman. But anyway, her opposition fueled my curiosity and so I soon took the plunge....I forked over the bucks, bought my ordination and two Doctorates, and then summarily boxed away the mailed goodies that soon followed. Now, I just carry the nifty black card in my wallet that denotes my piety as more a conversation piece than anything else... although I am willing and prepared to conduct any service I am fortunate enough to be called upon to perform. I do not cite the purchased ULC Doctorates (Divinity and Metaphysics) on my business card, as they do not seem as worthy as those accomplishments I achieved through hard work and time. My fiance, who has two Masters and is soon to get her PhD, and I play with all our various letters and degrees just for fun. I am making her new biz card as a surprise. Here is my alphabet soup, sans Doctorates: Reverend MEK, LCDR, USN(RET), MBA, 32 Degree Mason, APDT, ABC Certified. I am not even sure how I would incorporate the ULC Doctorates into all that....I fear, despite their dubious authentication, they would trump my harder-earned achievements, and I do not want to do that. Mike
  16. It appears that even WITH a religous exemption you are required to pay the dues, less certain amounts. You have two or three choices, depending on how you look at it... Management Move out of the state Vote against the idiots that voted for the law in the first place. Not attractive options, unless you can convince your employer that you are management material. Reality bites... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it's all the more interesting/ironic considering WA is among the most liberal states in the country.
  17. Tom Hanks is playing the lead... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Perfect!!! Who will play the dame?
  18. I heard this morning that Ron Howard is directing this movie. This may be old news, but it sure fantastic news. I cannot wait. I guess there is some nun on a hunger strike because Opie wants to film the movie on location, in actual European abbeys, chapels, etc....
  19. Story Here I bet tickets won't be cheap. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Way Cool. That will make it worth while to get the DVD from that fundraising event. Too bad it will likely be a one-time reunion, unlike the numerous times Hell has Frozen Over for the Eagles!!
  20. It does not suck!!! But it is a tad melencholy. Have you done happy and upbeat tunes? May I suggest you take your obvious talents into an upbeat, positive direction?? Just my two cents.. I am an audiophile, but personally I do not have any skills of my own, so my suggestion is not really worth much.
  21. The first part, Yoda said it was Qui-Gon. Most of the rest: How Stuff Works Did you just call me God man? Wow, what a lame superhero name. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thanks for the link. and um, no, I did not!!
  22. You must have missed a line because some punk didn't turn off his cell phone. The Jedi Master Yoda refers to is Qui-Gon Jin, Obi-Wan's former master. He had learned to join with the force and could communicate with Yoda, but joining with the force and communicating with those who have is a learned skill. Obi-Wan learned it on Tatooine while watching over young Luke. Qui-Gon and later Anikan are self taught. Yoda learned to communicate with Qui-Gon by himself, and could have leaned to join with the force from Qui-Gon or on his own. In the expanded Star Wars universe Joining with the force is a secret known to the Sith for quite some time, a secret learned and lost many times in their cycle of betrayal and deception. Before the bulk of Luke's training Obi-Wan is only able to contact Luke in spurts. Voices Luke isn't sure he are actually there and a vision he half believes is a hallucination. After his more extensive training with Yoda, and self training we do not see between Episodes V and VI guided by Obi-Wan's personal journal, he is able to call and carry on conversations with spirits joined to the force in this manner. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh. Thanks. My God man...how do you know all this??
