The word for "giants" here is the same word used in Genesis 6:4 -- the Nephilim. Obviously, therefore, some of them lived after the Flood. from a website using the companion bible...: In the book of Deuteronomy, Moses writes of the land of Moab, "The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims" (Deut.2:10-11). The word for "giant" here is Raphah, which means "giant." Interestingly, the same word also means "ghost, dead, deceased." The Rephaim were another of the lines of giants which existed after the Flood. Moses tells us of the land of Moab, "That also was accounted a land of giants; GIANTS dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims; a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead" (v.20-21). Og, the king of Bashan, conquered by Moses and the Israelites on their entrance into the Promised Land, was one of the giants. "For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits [approximately 14 feet!] was the length thereof, and four cubits [6 feet] the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man [i.e., a normal man -- the normal cubit measured 18 inches]" (Deut.3:11). Bashan, the land of Og, was called "the land of giants"(v.13; see also Josh.12:4, 13:12). The valley of Hinnom, the refuse dump for Jerusalem, a type of the final Gehenna fire, lay eastward of the "valley of the giants" (Josh.15:8; 18:16). Joshua 17:15 mentions the "Rephaim," another branch of the "giants." These dwelt in the region near Sodom and Gomorrah in the time of Abraham (Gen.14:5; 15:20; see also II Sam.5:18,22; 23:13). In an ancient text of the Jews, we read an astonishing description of some of these gigantic Amorites whom the Israelites conquered. In Buber's Tanhuma, Devarim 7, the text tells us of a Rabbi Johnanan ben Zakkai's encounter with the Roman Emperor Hadrian. This event occurred in about A.D. 135, soon after the Roman victory in the Bar Kochba war, when the Jews rebelled against the Romans. The text reads: "The wicked emperor Hadrian, who conquered Jerusalem, boasted, 'I have conquered Jerusalem with great power.' Rabbi Johanan ben Zakkai said to him, 'Do not boast. Had it not been the will of Heaven, you would not have conquered it.' Rabbi Johanan then took Hadrian into a cave and showed him the bodies of Amorites who were buried there. One of them measured eighteen cubits [approximately 30 feet] in height. He said, 'When we were deserving, such men were defeated by us, but now, because of our sins, you have defeated us'" (quoted in Judaism, edited by Arthur Hertzberg, p.155-156, George Braziller, New York: 1962). Thirty feet tall! The bones of these men were still in existence during the time of Josephus, the Jewish historian of the first century!

i would suppose by examining the bones for tell tale signs?? as in pathology... pa·thol·o·gy   /pəˈθɒlədʒi/ Show Spelled[puh-thol-uh-jee] noun,plural-gies. 1.the science or the study of the origin, nature, and course of diseases. then perhaps the unknown becomes known? the unheard of deformity test has me stumped... please enlighten me.... interesting angle you interject with here mererdog... well fawzo... That was originally how i wanted to start this... just clumsy i guess.... a quote from a web page: Regardless of whether the Anakim were actually related to the Nephilim, it is obvious that the Israelites were dealing with giants. If our understanding is correct that a cubit was approximately 18 inches, then Goliath, at "six cubits and a span," was somewhat over 9 feet tall. never looked up the length of a cubit tho... I must admit to being hasty in my presentation of this idea..... I would have received a better response had i explained myself better... my apologies as well... truth is, i never actually intended to argue your opinion... your miles ahead of me here actually... but thanks for all the opinion and info..... wise words in my opinion.... I make the mistake at times of assuming others verify their own facts as well as i do myself... however, there can be no arguing the wealth of information this site contains.... as with any information, discretion is the keyword.... am i not correct?

it could be YOU who straightened those confused folks out.... It was not my intention to imply that any giant human-type ( is that more appropriate? )being would have to be, or would be in any way, related to humans... obviously i don't have any info to say things like that.... all i can talk about is what has been found..... and speculate.... that's what i am so painfully attempting here..... and i thought this would drag us into a friendlier, less argumentative conversation..... involving issues that explore the lesser known possibilities of this world we live in.... exposing a little of the worlds wonder, for folks who have things so buttoned down... all this time standing in front of groups of people, think i woulda figured some things out by now........

rev.rainbow i love telling folks to look up the viminas as reported by the vedas... simply fascinating stuff... actual blueprints for flying vehicles... rolling powered vehicles... detailed explanations of the functions of the vessels... accounts of the vehicles in action, combat and otherwise.... detailed discussions of weapons of all types, including a bomb that can only be a nuclear bomb... etc... and the list goes on and on.... fascinating stuff... flight engineers have studied these drawings and say they have aeronautical properties which could only have been discovered through experience... they had to have been flying these things to have them at the point they were at in the drawings....

the highlighted portion was something i wanted to bring up as well - notice: i still have much to explore about the following... There are a number of these giant skeletons that have been found which have an excessive cranial capacity... and it is not seen as a result of an illness or deformity.... the last, and most sucessful attempt at aging these skeletons has given a confusing date of 10,000 - 12,000 years ago..... the same time as the assumed building time of many of the largest monuments on our planet.... does the increased size and cranial capacity of these beings give us another avenue of exploration to resolve these mysteries?

i was thinking we hadn't even established what to refer to as a giant.... you seem to be focussing on humans.... ok then, well, one of the things i wanted to point out was this...: some of the giant skeletons which have been found are examples of fully functioning people who have the usual stresses and strains to the body... some are obviously super tall as the result of something going awry with the body... there are methods to determine this as you apparently know... I ask you how does a fifteen foot man, with no abnormalities, excepting the size, fit into your idea of an illness? and how do you explain the sheer numbers of confirmed skeletons found.... one would think there would be one fellow walking around at 15 foot if it was so normal a thing....they'd be one guy in the NBA who simply sat in the center of the court dunkin both goals.... and if you are suggesting radiation as a cause..... please explain your thinking.... because it doesn't make sense to me.... and dear friend, if you have followed my posts, you know I am not defending their interesting Christian perspective, merely using the collection of reports they have as a source of leads for research.....

matters not what we talk about, simply a conversation starter.... however, I have personally seen some of the bones that have come out of west virginia... pretty hard to deny a human femur which is as long as my leg..( I'm 6'7" ).. and yes, it may look like a few other bones, but a human femur is pretty easy to identify... as well as a skull... pretty hard to fail to notice that a skull is a skull.... and wouldn't dinosaurs qualify as "giants in the earth"..... but please do explain the 15 foot tall human skeletons with the extra large cranial capacity which have been found all over the planet.... Thank you rev. rainbow for accepting the site as it was intended. as a storehouse of original information... as far as tools go... the japanese are drilling into a glacier and have found tools, jewelry, and household items down around the 10-12 million year range.... and have admitted all they've found.... very interesting... theres a story on the site about a rock hammer which has petrified and started to turn to coal in the handle, two happenings which are supposed to happen seperately over immense time periods. I havent researched it however it looks interesting... and "I have felt for a long time that many things in our lives have not been newly discovered but simply re-discovered from times past. Both religion as well as science have anathematized things that were not in line with their rationale of "truth." " - i could talk about that for a while..... and i agree... and yes, kingfisher, they are very clear about their Christian agenda..... very clear.... better than not being so, wouldn't you think?? try looking around a little, and perhaps chasing down some of the " leads " presented ( for thats what most of it is - reports from news agencies and other sources...) before throwing a big " I don't believe " around in the air, when it is painfully obvious you haven't had enough time to judge a single story from the page with any surety.... just spouting off about what you dont like....... panpareil - I like the direction your thoughts take....

this is an attempt to take these subjects seriously for debate... i don't attest to their validity... only those i have personally researched... the website doesn't claim they are true... but there are anomalies in this world which interest a great many people... this website is a treasure trove of original information which you may research for yourself...theres a dozen categories ranging from the sublime to the bizarre and the best we get is a heckler and an echo??

There's this website i like..... It's really an interesting site..... It is OOPARTS & Ancient High Technology -- Evidence of Noah's Flood? The Site Now, I've been following this website as it has been developing for years now, and I have found some very interesting leads to stories here... These folks have done a huge amount of research for all this information ( to gather the stories, i mean..) and some of this stuff is flat out fascinating as you do your research and begin to find out there is truth in some of it ( i have hopes that much of it is... but i don't have that much time to check it all... ) The point of giving you this link is to bring some of these topics out into the open... there is so much information on this site, it should be fairly easy to find a viewpoint on one of the topics covered and share or ask for opinions... This site is run by Christians - it is based from their viewpoint - they are very up-front about that... but they bring up things that have been forgotten about for a long time... and they ask questions...... Seriously folks, when i get into my research, this site gives me goosebumps frequently... finding out that some of these things are real is sometimes fairly shocking.... well, anyway, here is the point of view from those running the ooparts site. It is meant as a teaser to get you to visit them.... Ooparts make sure as you go through the pages to follow the numbers at the bottom of the pages or you will miss much of the material... well, there ya go folks. I would like to start the discussion with: Giants, did they REALLY exist? Can you REALLY doubt it?

The existance of such a concept, in my opinion, implies there IS an innate affinity for constructive behavior " built-in " the human ... we are bound to see a range of thought on any topic... this affinity is going to express itself in a range of thought as well... Morality makes sense, if for no other reason then the common sense it makes to cooperate with one another... cooperation = progress... there must be a consensus to have rules... the consensus is the Moral Standard... sound plausable??

I understand what you are saying, however i stand by what i said... there is very little use for the astral besides fun and curiosity... beyond the personally validating experience....the astral is simply a place i try to pass through without paying attention... as a soul's vibration increases ( through spiritual exploration and curiosity ) much more interesting and personal things become apparent.... ( and before you ask Fawzo - the experiences would depend on the soul involved ) Understand I am not trying to correct you, I am just being clear for those who may read this later... different experiences, different people... a good point to make...

that, my friend, is a very good question... I have a certain ability to see the energy patterns of people and things.... even with that ability, there is no way for me to see a person's spiritual state, unless it is woefully inadequate, or considerably more refined than my own... I honestly have no idea how to answer that question. The only thing I can share from personal experience is this: I played with OOBE's for quite a while before i realized that i was, basically, daydreaming... There came a point when i was approached... by my own guides... and asked whether i was finished playing and ready to get to work..... In a reality where everything is energy - theres no excuse for not accomplishing something at all times..... and things changed drastically... from " above " the Astral is much more understandable.... Please don't take this to mean that i think I am more advanced or anything... we are on our own course and It is my time to know these things... a decision that was made before i incarnated this time... a DECISION - not a special badge or something... I deserve no credit...... it's just where i am at this time....

Simply being in the Astral without a spiritual understand of exactly what the astral IS..... THAT i would say, is the most dangerous aspect..... could lead to a very great misunderstanding.... folks think that when they leave their body ( with no definite positive intention ) they are in " Heaven " or something.... not even close... The Astral is the unfinished creations that have accumulated since men have been incarnating on this planet.... It is a tricky, messy, place.... one needs a spiritual understanding to even successfully navigate this place.... one could find themselves mired in a set of circumstances that is no more " real " than a dream.... and they would fully believe it, for they've seen it with their own eyes.... they just don't realize it's no more " true " than a bit of random dream they have stumbled across.... I have said, in other threads, that individuals vibrate at a rate which is appropriate for them.... this level of vibration must be of a certain height to even have a chance of escaping the Astral..... Spiritual Studies Must come first for any useful experience... USEFUL experience.......
