  1. Lot? he didn't exactly pray for the city..... and he had limited success..... but the Lord did entertain saving the majority for the minority.... ( like a vulcan... ).... doesn't that sort of set a precedent??
  2. Rev, I remain convinced of so very little it is truly crippling at times.... but certain things i read sort of echo in my head, and merge with things Ive picked up otherwheres, and i see connections and explanations.... I try to disregard terminology and look inwards at the meat of what i study, and the more i learn, the less finnicky I am about sources. Upon serious study, the frivolous fades away. My inner witness says there are gems hidden in this long, dry text. The terms used do not resonate. It is completely unlike anything else i have read. It feels awkward and broken in its rhythm. But for some reason I cannot disregard it...... hence i wish to talk about it......
  3. If you find you can't sleep, have to take a several day bus ride, or get snowed in for a week or so, let me know ..... It really IS hard to stick to.... generally those I've met who are into the book are dedicated... Fawzo if you wanna look for specific sections which might interest you, skipping around, thats how most approach the book... check out paper 111, papers 53 and 67 purportedly explain the different rebellions - Lucifer and Caligasta, and the section beginning with paper 86 are interesting to me.... actually much of it is interesting to me..... The concept of the Thought Adjuster is tickling my curiosity....
  4. Took me quite a while to get through a lot of it, but I found the whole cosmology in the fist two parts interesting. Specifically where it starts getting closer to the indiviual, and the purpose and details of being human... the detail of this book is jaw dropping in its scope.... sure would like some opinions... I was looking for folks who have spent time with the study of the book. I have met folks in the past who were devoted to the book, and never was able to chat with them about it... Truly it's not as if I expect folks to study a few thousand pages just to chat...
  5. ditto... , hope lots take the time to read... eloquently said....
  6. Has anyone read the Urantia Book? There's a lot of good discussion about the ancient texts that go on here, I was wondering if anyone would like to discuss thoughts they may have about this book, printed approx. 1955. here's the Urantia Book Fellowship page: Urantia book fellowship there's a lot out there about the Urantia Book so i won't do a big description here, Just want some thoughts from the folks here...
  7. my older brother died a few years ago from diabetes. He dealt with severe neuropathy.. the pain and tingling you feel when a body part goes to sleep and "awakens".... I don't know your situation, but i used to find him marijuana, and make him bites to eat cooked with cannabutter.... the relief he felt was enough to allow him the peace to come to terms with dying and whether he was ready to believe in God. I don't know your situation, but I risked my freedom and future because it was WORTH it.... I would watch my brother go from a fetal position in agony, slowly unwind, and gradually sit up and talk with me. This was important to me as he was a die hard athiest before his terminal illness and after suffering for years wanted to have a dialog with me about my beliefs... I NEEDED the time to have that conversation.... what i wanted to say was that marijuana was a VERY effective medicine..... and it definitely helped with his depression as well... I shall remember you when i pray, and i send well wishes in your direction...may you see the end of this experience which causes such pain. you are not alone, I too suffer daily. I have no answers for you, but i do have understanding and i truly will be wishing you well.
  8. for further clarification of the world early christians lived in - and a very interesting chronology of the papel throne from the reign of Marozia ( the model for the fable of "pope Joan" - the only woman to ever have control of the supreme sacredotal office )in 926 as Senatrix of Rome, all the way to the sack of Rome and the death of Clement VII in 1534. Fascinating, fascinating, fascinating stuff.... the bibliography of this book is flat-out drool inspiring... check out: The Bad Popes by E.R. Chamberlin guarantee it will inform and definitely entertain you.....
  9. I know it's judgmental of me.... however, I question the motives of any who wish to hide away from the world to study "religious" topics. To me it seems a blatant warning flag. The reasons for a monestary, in my mind, have long since faded with history. We are in no need of a stronghold for religious knowledge.... the pagans at the gate have opened McDonalds and sent their kids to local schools...... Personally I feel that the message for modern Christians ( and what a broad label THAT is ) is to be in and amongst the world holding the proper mindset and disposition or you are peddling with a broken chain.... Of course there must be a few monks out there with personal and karmic reasons for seeking a monestary, however monestaries have always had a large secondary reason for existence.... to hide someone or something away from the world.... generally it's the ugly things that one seeks to hide..... and isn't it interesting that homosexuality and abuse is being revealed wherever one rubs the surface of the institution that so loudly screams against it........ I have looked for an upbeat story about something positive coming out of a monestary ( about a 30 min dogpile search ) and what i found was three accusations of abuse, a suicide, a possible theft of monestary funds, and - mustn't forget - a bake sale.... no stories of monks feeding the starving populace.... no stories of lost children returned by mysterious monks in the forest.... I'm afraid all the coolness has left the building for monestaries..... nothing left ( generally speaking ) but weirdos and hangers-on.... I know I'm not dropping the soap if i ever have to take refuge in the monestary.....
  10. thank you for this look into your mind Rev. Rainbow.... beautiful tragedy.... the essence of being human.... You are an admirable soul.....

  12. here's a metaphysical perspective : everything that exists is in motion - even if it is strictly at the atomic scale. This motion gives it a vibration ( along with it's individual characteristics ). This vibration is indicitive of where it resides on the scale of creation. The soul has a vibration of it's own, but when combined with the human body it's vibration is lowered. This scale reaches from the actual presence of our Creator outwards to the uttermost reaches of his consiousness ( which is allowed by his grace - if his children wish to hide from Him, them they have that option.) Or, if you will, Heaven ( reunion with our creator ) and Hell ( self imposed abscense from his presense ) Along this scale are Octaves - if you will - or levels of awareness which are breakthrough moments, when a soul gets a larger glimpse of creation - understands who and what it is, and where it is going. The nearest Octave for most Christians is what it commonly called the " Spirit of Christ", " The Christ Conscioussness",or many other like titles. It is the difference in vibration between the bodies own vibration and that of the soul that is commonly called the veil. Or to explain better - when you focus on the physical, it brings the vibration of the soul more in line with the body. When you focus on the soul it brings the vibration of the body more in line to that of the soul. When the focus on the soul is such that the concepts brought by The Master Jesus are not simply understood, but BECOME a souls own actions and desires, the vibration of the body will be close enough to the souls vibration for the to be a merging of consciousness between the Physical " You " and the Real " You ". Ascendancy - The Risen God - When an incarnated soul Realizes it's place in the scheme of things, and gets a glimpse of something greater. The moment that bring us new religions...... the Buddha - Christ - Mohommad - the list gets longer........ it's the individual nature of the soul which causes the differences in experience of these souls..... I know I left holes to fill in there - i will if asked.....
