  1. You aint never...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMa8ecC1aiA
  2. I started playing piano when I was about 6 ....then trumpet whan I was 8....then electric guitar when I was about 12. I have about 30 years on guitar but I do not have 30 years worth of ability to show for it. I have about 2 years on bass guitar and about 2 years on banjo. I think one of the reason I gravitated towards playing slide was because of a lack of ability to actually play the guitar. My professional playing now is just strumming chords on an acoustic singing worship songs in church. Which is not really what I want to do, but a position someone needs to fill, that I can fill until the "real deal" shows up. What is the "hot rod" classical guitar to have? I assume classical guitar is played in standard (EADGBE) tuning? What drew you to classical guitar? When you play electric guitar, what (or who) typically do you play?
  3. Did not do the mods myself; my buddies as Moze Guitars take care of me real well. I laso had (at the time) a Fender P bass with the same paint scheme...both had them chrome telecaster type knobs. The bass had the fattest of a five string bass string set on it; tuned down down two whole steps so the fat string was a "C." Excellent guess. I wanted that round sound for the slide, but I wanted also that delicate Strat sound on occaision. I have a "humbucker from hell" at the neck which is not as muddy and is very close to a single coil. Then a regular f-spaced humbucker at the bridge. When I have the selector in the "both" position, has that nice Strat sound. I play 13's and tune it down a whole step, so I'm actually playing out of an "open f." People like the looks of my guitar and then pick up strum it a couple time and put it right back down because the the alternate tuning......lol..
  4. I've never had a Gibson......always wanted an SG cuz I play mostly slide guitar out of open G. I've been using a "strat" (warmoth neck, on an ash body). I say "strat" because that is what it started off as, but now it has two humbuckers. It's white with blue flames, I had it paint to match the bike I was riding at the time (71 Shovelhead). I was playing through a Fender "Bluesman" tweed tube amp(60 watt with four 10" speakers). Classical guitar.......I wouldn't have guessed. How long have you been at it?
  5. Nice.........Gibson thru Marshall.........is that what you play V?

  12. My theory is that as it stands right now "you and me" out give most rich folks, maybe not in dollar amount, but in percantage, ongoingly.
  13. I would like some people to join in prayer with me, regardeless of what your faith is, for the 50 richest people in the world. I don't know exactly who they are, and I don't think that matters. I would like to people join with me in praying that these 50 richest people would have a heart of compassion for the needy in the world, and that they would give according to thier abundance out of love and help resolve some of the hunger and poverty problems.
  14. Very cool! I loved all three of those Bourne movies that I have seen.

  16. By the way: http://us.penguingroup.com/nf/Book/BookDis...d_Bible_Various I'm looking for the original that has all of the texts in thier complete form but, translated into English.
  17. Hey Vic, I'm encouraged by your words. I have Enoch, I regularly use the apaocrypha and my other books to better understand what Jesus was talking about. Paul as well and the rest of the New Testament writers quote many books that my denomination has a huge problem with. When Jesus said " O Jerusalem Jerusalem I wanted to gather you under my wings as a hen gathers her chick but you would not," he was quoting 2 Esdras chapter one. Now (lol) can you guess what the reaction was when I made that statement from the pulpit (lol)? I have a book called the "Portable Bible of the World" from Viking publishing and it has the "best of" of all the different major world scriptures. But I am a bit disatisfied with it because the things that Jesus said that I find most important are not in it; so I must assume the same for the rest of the scriptures; but it is ok. I like your approach; don't feel like you have to do anything the way I do or they way I suggest; I know you don't feel that way, but I just want you to know my heart. I appreciate your prayers and need all I can get.
  18. Well alright then. Looks like we agree that we should encourge our brother to seek God on the issue and let God speak. Will you also agree to join me praying that Vic (Blackthorn) will have absolute clarity?
  19. Hey Vic, It may be none of my business, but I have recently, again, become a black sheep in my denomination (however I'm sure this time IS the last) and I think I can relate to some of your thoughts. I hear continually, "Christians should not go (fill in the blank), Christians should this or that." If I were you what I would do is remember what it was like when you first came to Christ and relive that. There was a reason you came to him, and there were things you knew as a result of that. Here's a simple thing; people are the problem; get them out of the equasion. Dogma can be help but it can be a hindrance as well; just drop all of it. Lately the only Bible I study is Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, and Revelation; sometimes James, Jude, Hebrews, 1 and 2 Peter; in that order. The reason for that is the gospels and acts are pure gospel. Jesus did not get caught up in all the cultural issues of his day. Our churches teach gospel with the addition of the cultural likes and dislike of the pastor and the congregation and they respond to cultural tensions. Get back to just Vic and Jesus. We all wind up where we do however we get there. I have been spending time in the Zoroastrian scriptures, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, and several others and are comparative likenesses, but the contrasts are the things that concern me. None are a simple as the words of Jesus: "only believe," "all things are possible to him who believes," "he who believes will do the works I do and greater than these," the commands to heal the sick, raise the dead, make disciples; I have found this (the words of Jesus) to be the real deal and all else pales in comparison, in fact there is nothing to compare them to. This is another cultural issue that is causing division; both sides are harming and causing harm to the other and I think the sooner we can be finished with it the better. In fact, I won't even go there with anyone anymore. The deconstructionism surrounding the demythologizing of Jesus was a cultural issue brought on by modernity and is not going to help you believe what Jesus said; in fact it will create a major hindrance to that. Jesus is the real deal and I think you know that; let him be Jesus. I like the ULC as well, but if your intent is to be a disciple of Jesus, you are probably going to have to go outside the ULC group to get what you need. As far as deism goes, I don't think you are going to find what you are looking for there, being that you know Christ you have a huge measuring stick now. I do not have any cute sayings or mystical jive to tell you other than draw closer to Christ. Sit in his presence first thing in the morning or whenever you can get some quiet time for a half hour or so and dump these concerns on him and then just listen. He speaks, as you know right into your spirit and soul. Shut it all off and seek him. Pray for me as I will be praying for you.
