  1. Jesus was sent to rid the world of sin. Thor was sent to rid the world of frost giants. I don't see no frost giants. Just sayin'...
  2. I agree, if she's otherwise healthy and eating normally it's probably a result of being confined to her new quarters. It's a big change in lifestyle and horses get depressed too. You mentioned other horses... does the mare in question have any social interaction while she's in the stall, or has there been a significant restriction in that regard since the move? It's hard to say without observing your stable but I suspect it may not be just the diminished pasturage that's an issue for her.

  4. As the bright fire of one year passes into the eternal hope of the next I offer Blessings of infinite love to all this season, and for all the new year. May they fall to each in the form you most desire. Ein frohes Fest und ein friedliches und erfülltes Neues Jahr. -K

  6. When I first moved back to NY I settled next to an alpaca farm, and while exploring my new lot I found a pair of bowling balls hidden in the tall grass. Didn't really surprise me, you know those crazy alpacas, but it stood out as an unusual occurrence. Anyway, the bank pulled out of that deal and I was forced to move on early, so I left them to rest where they lay. After moving into my current home I was out exploring again and found another pair of bowling balls hidden in the leaves tucked up against the stone wall. Spirits can have a weird sense of humor. I guess I'd rather find dimes, 'cause these things are pretty heavy.
  7. My prayers for you both will go up in smoke tonight. This symbolic harvest is of our thoughts. Seeds - planted and nurtured throughout this past year. May the good come to pass and the bad be cast aside. With your divine guidance and protection, we step into the New Year, May we have good health, prosperity, and happiness. As the New Year is born, we are all reborn, with new hopes and dreams. Guide us in the future as in the past. Give us strength and courage, knowledge and fulfillment. Assist us as we attempt to achieve our goals. Every beginning has an ending. And every ending is a new beginning. In Life is Death, and in Death is Life. Watch over us, our loved ones, and all of our brothers and sisters, here and departed, Who tonight are joined together again for fellowship and celebration. Bless us all as we light our bonfires, our hearth fires, and the eternal fires in our hearts. Guide and protect us, tonight and throughout the coming year. Blessed Be!
  8. Reminds me of Nora Roberts, or Diana Gabaldon. You've got great style! More suited to longer works, I think, though the rushed pace works well for this story. Enjoyable, and I set the bar pretty high for romantic sci-fi/fantasy.
  9. Her old family claimed she was a Golden Retriever/Australian Shepherd cross, didn't seem unreasonable and I thought it explained her coloring, but upon further research I suspect it's more likely she's a Flat-Coated Retriever. Yep, that's a pretty typical expression. Seems I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for cancer, though there's really not much to be done but give her a good life. And speaking of the good life... <slobber> That's her new boyfriend, Yogi, trying to steal her picnic basket again. He's a German Shepherd/Boxer cross, also rescued from an abusive household by my neighbor. Should be an interesting litter, hopefully the pups will be spared the dysplasia and other inbred illnesses, but he's still young and hasn't suitably impressed her yet. Quicker than a chipmunk, and a right pouncy tigger too, though a real slobber dog. He's just like my brother's Rottweiler, always at the water bowl recharging the slobber glands. You see, according to slobber dogs, everyone needs more slobber. Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun... <slobber> (Don't worry, he drinks holy water.)

  11. This one always helps me. May you find some comfort . "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart." ~ Helen Keller The *LORD* bless you and keep you; The *LORD* make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The *LORD* lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.

  13. Now that is beautiful! I'll play the whiskey jug if Brother Devon will lay down some washboard. You wouldn't want to catch me singing bluegrass. Maybe a yip and a holler(lujah) here and there. And no, not because of Father Corey's organ. Is that Italian? Any drummers around? I'll beat a rhythm on just about anything (just about) but I'm sure no Bonham.

  15. I'm afraid I don't have any recording technology at the moment. If I fix that I'll share a bit with ya. I've been looking at picking up this one too, but Social Security doesn't really give me room to save for fun stuff.
  16. Boooo! Sorry, Pavlovian reaction. About twenty years ago he bailed on a concert we went to a lot of trouble to go see and I've held a grudge ever since. Hey, at least you grabbed a clip from when he was still cool.
