As a contractor, I found it to be the wealthiest of my customers, who were the hardest to get paid by..... but man, are they the least expecting when you remove the porch you have just built for them, with your truck and a rope.... the shock value makes it almost worth all the unpaid effort.... LOL, Raven - folks are always assuming they know my mind..... you have not even slightly aggravated me... I read the bits you post and try to follow along. and I was not talking about having a church - I've discovered that a minister is a minister, all of the time..... In my mind, it's more about an instinct, deep inside - even if we do not realize it on the surface - and a bad taste in your mouth doesn't last forever ( there's interesting things out there for a flavor changer, now and again ) It was my intention to poke you, to keep your eyes open for those small moments when you can be of use to another in your daily life.... That is ministering as well - and there is no congregation to manage.... and you do not have to wear the Pastor badge.... I have noticed that folks appreciate my kindnesses to a greater degree, when they have no idea I am a minister... I love to anonymously minister - it fills my heart like nothing else ( I cannot quite explain why I get so much more joy from it - I just do... ) I help folks with flat tires on thee road, visit old folks who are so alone it is painful, visit inmates who have burnt every bridge in their life from a burning frustration ( that I have felt ), and smile and talk kindly to folks for "no reason".. no one I know, knows I do these things.... ( except Y'all - and those who have seen me going about my life ) and THAT gives it a very personal flavor..... which heals something inside me....

well, ummmm. like it or not - you're a pastor, it seems ( unless you feel that is a shirt you wear...) There is no recourse but too get better.... failure is not an option - unless it wasn't about being a pastor..... no, you are not off the hook.....

a frustratingly familiar blindness.... or is it REALLY indifference? I have heard the echoes of this thought....

It's funny - I had to travel all over the United States to fully appreciate where I live, but now I appreciate it every day.... "Mountains to sea" is what they put on the Virginia license plate ( well, one of them ).... I've lived on the beaches of Va. Beach, to the Mountains in Floyd county Va.... Virginia has it all - at a nice temperature and humidity - no serious bug problem - no large base of poisonous snakes and spiders... a bit of wildlife left to see... and friendly southern folks..... sigh.... we ARE lucky....

I have done a little picture surfing, and it IS very nice.... but I am in Virginia..... it is hard to find prettier countryside than what I enjoy on a regular basis.... and yes, Bluecat - I DO take a moment or two every day to appreciate that fact !! As you apparently do as well.

I have a severely psychic friend who would love nothing more than to be a paranormal investigator - he feels he has a very high leg up on the competition... so we go on "ghost hunts" all the time - he sends them on.....

Little late speaking, but I'm still praying.... look into black walnut :random black walnut link... and Stevia for the Diabetes... a little practice and stevia is an AWESOME substitue for sugar....

My dad ended up with a large white parroty thing..... big white crest on it's head.... it was taken off a fishing boat that was being docked... it had the most horrendous language.... no one could stand it but my dad.... imagine sitting in your living room to the glaring f-words and M-F's ..... EVERYTHING the bird said was preceeded by a string of the foulest cursing you ever heard.... The things folks will do for fun..... wonder if they ever considered - as Rev Al said.... those kinds of birds live a looooong time....

Down south we make Bat Houses which work very well.... It's simply a birdhouse with no bottom and no door hole... separated into two thin chambers ( and I put a piece of thread stock about an inch from the top, on each side - so they can get a good foothold... ) They seem to love them, and I can watch half a dozen or so come from each one in the evenings...

I'm very lucky to be where I am... I have the ospreys on the water, Several Eagles which live nearby my house, hawks on the phone lines as I ride down Rt 17, and an amazing variety of birds which stop by my house.... Lately I have a huge Pileated woodpecker hanging out in the back - sounds like I have construction going on down there... he's easy to spot with his bright red head... and the nuthatches are coming out.... and we have had a juvenile owl hanging about - but I haven't seen him, just heard him in the evenings... he's either juvenile or a small owl - he's got a squeaky voice... and I always have my crows coming and going.... strange that I never really liked them until I watched that show.... now they're my buddies, I bring them bread and they don't "yell" at me any more.... they start cawing softly when they land and start munching... ( relax, it's twelve grain pepperidge farms bread... not white bread... ) If you wanna make friends with a crow, give em lil pieces of hotdog... - I mean little, so they don't choke... edit: but they WILL bring a few buddies around to meet you....

If you have any titmouse around, there can be interesting arguments with the swallows.... they were a constant source of amusement a few years ago here...

OT references actually were considered to be what proved him NOT to be the Messiah - to the Jews.... This is the reason I say one must understand the Judaic Texts to have a correct understanding of the Message... Because that was the understanding Christianity was designed around... one can spot Paul's work much quicker.... ( and not just Paul, all those grumpy monks too... )
