  7. "Religion is for those who don't want to go to Hell; Spirituality is for those who've already been through it." -Unknown I like your signature Rev. Bland, sure hits home with many folks I'm sure. I can ditto what has been said above and that under the circumstance you and your wife are both brave souls, trekking out into uncertain future with even less certain outcomes. I can add a long list of angels and demons to the list from the five months I spent homeless, hungry and all but given up on Life some 35 years ago now. But in the end, of course looking back, I wouldn't change that portion of my life if I had the power to do so. It was one of the pivotal parts of my Life. I didn't even realize the ways and manners I had grown until years later because through that whole ordeal I learned things that I still hold as core values today. That is why today when I see and "angel" I voice my happiness and congratulate them; it could be a father teaching his children values or a young person helping a little ol' lady across a busy street, doesn't matter. I also express my angst with the "demons" in life as well which could be as simple as a parent ignoring an unruly child or a husband mistreating his wife, doesn't matter. The point is that as Spiritual People experiencing a physical Life we can only make changes to what we acknowledge. I sincerely hope you find some courage and support from the rest of us here and please, please do, keep us informed of your progress and victories. And don't forget to hug that ever so brave wife every chance you get! Blessings of Peace,

  12. I had a rat "Charlie" when in the 4th grade....good trade for a Reece's™ Peanut Butter Cup....cage, rat and wheel....since the other kid's Mom "wouldn't let him keep it". "Charlie" was pretty smart doing several tricks with Q-Tips and cotton balls (I'll let your minds wander on that one ) I was dumbfounded when I awoke one morning a couple of weeks later to find "Charlie" was short for "Charolette"! I suddenly had 7 rats, well one and 6 little pink "larvae"! Thus started one of my first enterprises a couple months later on the school bus....made a whole $2.50...business declined rather swiftly as at that tender young age I wasn't aware yet that the "Birds and Bees" applied to rats as well...I figured they just came "pre-loaded". When "Charlie" died a couple of years later I was heartbroken and relieved at the same time...I missed my little friend, but sure didn't miss the daily cleaning of his cage. I got a whole $1 for the cage, which come to think of it $3.50 back off a 5¢ investment wasn't a bad return...well until you add up the boarding expenses.... Thanks Mom!!! The movie "Ben" must haunt your dreams Songster. I personally never met a rat I didn't like, just not easy having them around with 5 cats! ....and.... I've only had one cat, ever, use my lap as a sand box! "Belt" is the first word that comes to mind when I think of the black snake. Oh yeah, and anyone that thinks that NYC rats the size of cats are big....you've never been to the Philippines or Hong Kong have ya? Those critters wear leathers, ride scooters and all have tattoos of a block of cheese with a dagger thru the middle over their hearts! It was the men's size 8 boots they wore, with chains around the ankle, that really scared me as they could stomp a mud puddle in yo' rear end and walk it dry! And talk about expertise with a butterfly knife...whoo-ee...a mere half second and flashing blur of silver ... perfectly ordered, boned, filleted and wrapped "People Sushi" on the sidewalk any time of day or night. Blessings of Peace between all creatures, great and small,

  15. The "Kid's" are doing wonderful and back up to full health and speed...boy are they making up for a week of not being able to eat more than soup! Wow 8# of crunchies gone in 3 days when that was a usual weeks worth between six cats. Hemi ate so much we had a "Tummy present" in the middle of the floor the other morning with his signature on it...he likes to "cover" things so the scratch marks gave him away!!! They are not liking being confined to the patio, but are least using the newly enclosed area to sun themselves and get fresh air. We keep several planters with different grasses in each one for them to eat and they have started "mowing" for sure!! One, a delicate soft blade wheat grass, is almost down to dirt. I saw maintenance cleaning a stove in the garage of another vacancy just the other day and they were rinsing industrial grade "Easy-Off" directly into the gutter. The maint guy pulled the "I don't speak English" routine, so I went up to the office. The manager told me that 1.) cats have "no business out and about" 2.) all dogs are to be leashed and walked by owners. 3). If the dog owners let them drink gutter water, "NOT their (office) problem!!" What if dog - walkers don't SEE the cleaner...like after 4pm, garage door closed, no worker around, but a big puddle of water in the driveway/gutter. I went and put a sign by the water on an orange hazard cone I've had for years. When I got up the next morning, the cone was gone...no one seemed to know where it went. I got it back couple of days ago as it was on the back of the very same maint truck of the workers I tried to talk to. They screamed "That company property! That company property!!" when I took it off the truck...gee, that's funny and walked away with it. Ten minutes later the super shows up pounding on my door asking for "their cone back"...oh you mean the one, like the other 3, with my name and old address inside it? It was obvious to any Sherlock the name had been inside for YEARS and matched the set!! (Faded/blurred/same base and size) So when I talked to him about the chemicals and gutter water he says "We don't have time to worry about everyone else's animals!" I let him keep the paper sign I printed and made into a cone shape to fit the safety cones that said "Caution! Toxic water!"....amaaaaazingly enough I actually saw one of their cones with the sign on it in front of another unit just yesterday. I printed six more copies, cut them out, laminated both sides, "coned" and folded them flat and gave them to the office for maint this morning. The super just left a bit ago, apologizing for sounding rude the other day and much thanks for our help with the signs. Every problem needs to be met by both sides of the equation, doesn't matter who or what the issue is. Every pet owner/lover should be diligent, every worker needs to have the appropiate tools to work with, every pet should be safe.....that, is all I'm concerned about, not stopping workers from doing their job or the buck and half it costs for laminate and paper. The $400 vet bill, priceless in that it saved our kids from a horrible death and taught us an invaluable lesson of "freedom for animals" in this modern day world. Blessings of Peace,
