In response to what you posted Pastor Dave in #7, I attended a seminar some years ago on "Received Messages" by a person who was once affiliated with the Monroe Institute. One of the reasons our own government decided to back off a bit from the whole Hemi-Sync program was because of the possibility of not only intended but unintended personnel receiving "channeled" or "directed" information. So in regards to what Wiki (which I agree is commonly used but not always 100% accurate) says about the UB papers being taken from various authors, I would like to know the exact dates all authors, UB and others alike, "received" their messages and wrote them down. I don't know for sure, but it is highly likely that any 'open mind' to universal messages may have been able to receive the same message. Just a thought. Blessings of Peace, -

The low pants, cheek baring thing is indeed prison origins and does mean exactly what Bro Hex pointed out. My references are inmates at our local County Jail and the federal prison here, which does NOT allow 'hung pants' in the yard. There is a BIG difference between loose fitting, low hung pants for medical reasons and the "I'm yours" fashion. I am forever amused when Cops, or other such shows, catch the "bad guy" within 10 steps because he trips over his own pants...it use to be shoe laces (Oh yeah, I'm bad and gonna run like the wind - no shoes laces in sneakers and pants kept up by safety pins pinned thru pants to underwear and a belt around mid-thigh...uh huh...track speed records there!) Our local school district has a restriction on pants/shorts* not being any low and no tasteless t-shirts, (no advertisement/picture/designs etc. for drugs, alcohol/illegal etc. Every year we've been here (since 2006) the senior class initiates a year long battle with the hs admin's over dress code...it's nice to know this school district does not back down or give in. All they ask is decency. We live just a few blocks from the one high school and by the time the kids walk by here, the pants are down to their mid-thigh and "wife-beaters are on. Our landscaping staff routinely finds clothing hidden in the plants out along the road .... it's always gone by 3:10-3:15 as school lets out at 3:05. Blessings of Peace (and a modicum of decency in attire!) My freshman hs year still had the dress code of collar/button shirt, slacks and dress shoes no sneakers and boys hair above collar! ( So we'd fold down and iron the collar as close to the shoulder as possible and starch the daylights out of it getting a whole extra 3/4 of length on the hair! OMG...hippie!! ) *(No attire, which designates affiliation with outside groups, organizations, or gangs, except with prior permission from the site administrator. This includes, but is not limited to: sagging pants, hanging belts, hair nets, gang related initials or symbols, gang type writing on person, clothing or personal belongings including notebooks.) William, Any lengthy post, that you do not want to risk losing, can be done in your Word Processor first and saved in a text file. Then when you wish to post to the forum use the 'import Word' command at top right (clipboard with the "W" icon) of the reply box to import your text. This will save you a lot of hassle and effort in the long run. Just an FYI Blessings Be, -

The odds of there being sentient life in the Universe, beside humans, is overwhelmingly positive. As to whether or not they've been here, communicated to the ancients or not etc etc...well the book is still open on that for me. It may only be because I saw this topic title in "New" yesterday, but last night I had a dream where everyone seemed to understand me, but I could not understand anyone when they spoke. Not just in foreign languages, but things I'm not sure are languages. Very strange, not so much nightmarish as just plain odd. Right at the end before waking (in terrible pain) did things revert to English and then I couldn't quite "get" what the person was yammering on about. I'm looking into a "Dream" site in another tab, but so far haven't found much useful info about this language thing. Dan, Pete? The discourse on Christianity vs. Islam has been very educational and informative as to your personal views the subject. May I ask how that applies to Dianna's initial query in post #1? It seemed to me it was very upsetting to her to have her good friend, a Rational Hedonist, not only pass away, but then have to deal the wishes of the person's religious family for the funeral instead of the last wishes of her friend. It seems that in the end everything worked out for funeral, but I am curious how you guys connect your insightful bantering to the topic? Ju-u-u-u-ust curious is all! Blessings of Peace, Al -

Actually, King's David and Solomon, Daniel, Ezekiel, Hababkuk and of course Moses and Abraham, as well as several other names in the Bible have indeed been proven to be historical characters. (History Channel) Codex, scrolls, pottery (where Goliath was named) have all been used to substantiate that most, perhaps even all, of the Biblical Characters were in fact living, breathing people. I don't find the validation of characters to be much of an issue really. Some interesting info in the above link that may be surprising to both believer and non-believer alike. Blessings of Peace, -
