Almost done with Anderson Cooper's "Drenches From The Edge" Amazing book, had to read part of it for a class and after that went and got the book.

I am learning about this all in the Great Battles class that I am taking. Everyone I heard from that saw it said that it was an incredable movie but historically inaccurate. I have not seen it yet, it does look good though.

I just finished "A Year Of Absence" by Jessica Redmond, gotta say it was a really good book. Its a true story. The women in the book are military wives whose husbands have been deployed to Iraq and it follows how the wives cope with their hubbies deployments. I loved it, could not put it down.

Finished The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe...it was decent. Also finished In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, in my opinion there was too much build up and such a let down BUT the book still was good.

The broadway show or the movie...who has seen and what do you all think of it. I am obsessed with the movie, I have not seen the broadway version yet. The soundtrack is AMAZING *listening to it now*.

Has anyone seen it? I might be going in a couple weeks and was wondering if it was any good?

Haven't seen it, don't plan to see it. Every Pastor I know recommends NOT seeing it, because supposedly it's about gay cowboys. For a Pastor to go and tell people NOT to see a movie because the characters are gay I think is wrong, it only goes to bread hate and intolerance which is what I thought religion was trying to get rid of.... *scratches hed* Haven't seen it, don't plan to see it. I though it was sheep herders, not cowboys ( from the reviews) EH, Jack (Jake's character) was a rodeo boy and Heath came from a rancher family, they herd sheep together on Brokeback. So I guess you can call them rodeo/rancher herders. Either way it was a good movie. My friend Dan enjoyed the movie, he comes from a tight Christian upbringing, he was caught off guard by the male on male sex scene but was ok with the male on male making out.

Will be reading a few within the next few months (for school)...In Cold Blood -Capote, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test-Wolfe, and a book by a new writer A Year of Absence-Jessica Redmond. I am looking forward to Redmonds book because it is about military wives whose hubbies are deployed.

Thanks; I've actually been looking forward to your critique! We certainly agree. This is a love story, like any other love story except it's guys. A very good film, IMO. I am actually going back to see it tomorrow with one of my male friends...I cant wait to see his reaction

Worth paying the theatre big bucks for, or would you suggest waiting to rent the DVD? I would say if you really want to see it then shell out the money BUT see if they have it showing at discount matinee times if not wait for DVD. It was good but its a waitable movie.

Hmm.... my sister has the unrated version of 40 yr old. I have not seen this copy yet so I am not sure if there is alot of nudity. I did see the rated version and while it did have crude humor it was not bad. Once I watch the unrated I will fill ya in.

Well...I did see it. The hype was a tad bit overdone and people making a huge deal over the gay issue is being taken too far. Yes it was based on gay cowboys who did happen to be guys ( i think if it was lesbians the hype would be different)...HOWEVER, that said, the movie was good. It had a good story behind it. It was touching to some extent, had some meaning. Overall I did enjoy the movie and think the bulk of the hype is from those who are against the male on male interaction.

thats cuz you have a thing for heath ledger and Jake..how ever you spell his last name. Actually, I've never had a "thing" for Jake G-whatever, but you've got me on the Heath thing. Heath is a cutie but I am all about eyes...Jake has incredable eyes....

Only reason I am going is 1. Friend wants me to and 2. I have a gift certificate to that theatre. I dont mind the gay movie theme, I am all for it, be it guy or girl (prefer girl more but whatever). Jake Gyllenhaall=yummy
