  1. If objective, verifiable evidence was produced, proving that God's existence was true -- what then? In the previous topic, on page one, RabbiO raised a valid point. Which Christianity? My intent here is to confine the question to God's existence. Not about God's morals or ethics. Not about God being good or evil. The God of Monotheism existing -- or not. Here's an opening question. Does God's existence actually matter? Why does it matter?
  2. Have you not heard? God is LOVE. This is the perfect justice of the perfect being. Dan can't disagree with God's judgement. He simply can't. Faith over reason. Because God moves in delirious ways.
  3. Dan just got through explaining, that faith is more important than facts. It's too late for an appeal to reason.
  4. It's myth. It is clear, that you don't understand the meaning of objective -- or verifiable -- or evidence. None of which requires faith. That is what makes it -- objective, verifiable, evidence.
  5. In America, Ex-Muslims are coming out of the closet. Godless and Proud. Did you think it was only Christians and Jews? https://friendlyatheist.patheos.com/2019/09/04/ex-muslim-group-launches-awesomewithoutallah-billboard-campaign/?utm_medium=webpush&utm_source=nonreligious&utm_campaign=FriendlyAtheist
  6. We seem to be heading down this path. So be it. The only reason to say that the God of the Bible is good -- is the Bible says that God is good. What an awful, pathetic reason.
  7. Of course the Bible is immoral. That much is obvious enough. The core issue here is extrinsic moral code -- and God's existence. If God produced it -- it's extrinsic. If Humans produced it -- it's mythology. Mythology is not extrinsic moral code. The value of mythology -- Bible or otherwise -- is a different topic. By all means, we can have a thread about the evil of the fictional God character -- and Scripture. In this thread -- I think it's a distraction. Just my opinion.
  8. Your comments would have some relevance -- if God existed. That remains to be established. God's existence is possible. It is not established. We have no objective, verifiable facts or information about God. Not faith. Not belief. Objective, verifiable facts. An extrinsic moral code, based on a nonexistent entity, is meaningless.
  9. Dan is consistent in his limitations. Dan can't wrap his mind around a Republican Atheist -- Or an Agnostic Atheist. He's not alone. David Silverman, former head of American Atheists -- tried to have American Atheists have a presence at a Republican convention. There are Atheists who want small government -- with a balanced budget and minimal taxes -- and he's one of them. That is what the GOP used to stand for. The GOP leadership panicked and prevented American Atheists from participating. You understand of course. They were playing to their religious base. And a base lot they are. For the rest -- you know about that nasty obsession for absolute moral codes. He's not being stubborn. It's beyond his capacity. It's a seamless outlook. If his perspectives cracks at all, it will shatter.
  10. Does Paganism make people into better People? This blogger says a strong yes. Christians often claim that Christianity makes people better. Fair's fair. I think that Pagans should be allowed to make the same claim, for Paganism. https://www.patheos.com/blogs/panmankey/2019/08/of-course-paganism-makes-me-a-better-person/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Pagan+News+and+Views&utm_content=37
  11. What I really miss is the old Yahoo Groups. Long gone. Yahoo fixed them. MSN also had good groups for a while. They were also fixed. I never got around to investigating the Google groups. Facebook is every bad thing that people say about it. For now, I still have my account. China has major social media. I'm not sure I want the Chinese Government reading everything I post. It's a silly quibble. They probably have their computers scanning all the Facebook posts. Youtube has their own issues.
  12. This thread begins with the objectionable Christianity, described by the blogger, Godless Mom. The same irritating and objectionable Christianity, that I have encountered on this board. Abusive, irritating, dominating and controlling. Dominionist Christianity. Please. No names. You know who I'm thinking of. Yes. There are Christianities that are sweet, loving and gentle. There are Christians who are sweet, loving and gentle. I can not be all inclusive on this board, without sounding like a stilted, legal document. It's been too long. I've missed you.
  13. You raised an interesting question. I went back looking for the relevant statements. What I found is quoted, below, under the broken line. I added quotation marks, otherwise, it is cut and pasted exactly as I found it. To my understanding; the blogger's concern is handing over her community's source of communication -- to Facebook. The rest is justification for those fears. On reflection, I think the real question, is whether any group or community, should trust their communications to Facebook. Welcome back. It's been too long. ============================================================================================================================================= "So where does this leave us? Specifically those of us who rely on Facebook because our covens, orders, magical groups, and pagan or polytheist discussion forums that give us the ability to communicate with one another let alone any sense of community? For some of us, the online world is 80% of our means of communication with the outside world–not to mention our source of pagan, polytheist, and/or witch community. Imagine running a magic class on FB but your account gets banned or suspended because your recent posting on climate change got a ton of angry reacts. What happens to your group?"
  14. I have mixed feelings about Facebook. It's destructive. It's useful. It's not just Pagans and Witches. A whole bunch of Atheist and Agnostic groups have vanished from Facebook.
  15. The Tea Addicted Witch calls for Pagans and Witches to delete Facebook. https://www.patheos.com/blogs/teaaddictedwitch/2019/08/social-media-failing-pagan/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=BRSS&utm_campaign=Pagan&utm_content=797
