Commitment has been hard for me. I have always been oriented towards myself and my feelings, which has made it difficult to stick to goals without dropping out. Despite these struggles, I remember the Lord Himself was the prime example of commitment. He stuck around when it was hard, kept his eyes on the eternal price—our salvation—at a great personal cost. I wish to emulate him, as well as to see commitment’s dazzling effect on my life. I may not be ever able to experience the excruciating pain of the cross, but I can, with His grace, improve my ability to commit and to be reliable in deed and word.
