For those that seem to think that the ULC was founded on Christian Theology..here are a few of my favorite Rev. Kirby Hensley quotes.

I always stand for freedom, food and sex. That's all there is. It sets people free.

The Bible "is full of lies from one end to the other."
I just want to raise all the hell I can, and get all the kooks and what-have-you as churches; then they (the government) will have to tax them all.

Interesting...... From what I've learned from viewing the 60 Minutes interview.... Mr. Hensley wasn't interested in establishing a true religious movement, nor was he promoting human spirituality or universal brotherhood. Instead, he was a self-confessed con-artist interested only in destroying the existing tax-exempt status of accepted religious institutions by providing ordinations to anyone interested in exploiting the US tax system. Hmmmmmm.... Very interesting.

Songster, that is one way of seeing it. Another is that he was for removing an special status of "the church" and remove the "the church" from between God and the individual.

Sort of a lesser version of when Jesus died on the cross, and the veil rendered in two at the temple, no longer separating God from those who sought Him.

It's not that I hold Kirby on the same regard that I do Jesus, but anyone or anything that brings people closer to their God(s) is a good thing to me. For those who don't believe in a deity, I guess there never was a problem.
