  1. The subjective mind of the self defines someone as old or wise, and a subjective mind is one that is prone to error...
  2. May all those in the path be free from danger May they be free from pain and suffering May they return to 'normalcy' soon...

  4. I am sure things will work out...best wishes
  5. Karma does not need to be seen as "what could I have done". If you live in the past, you harm the future. The fruits of tomorrow's karma are planted today as seeds. So indeed, thinking 'where can I go from here' should help one take actions that will produce the desired effect...
  6. Prayer is often rooted in ritual, and ritual is only the outer cloak of one's beliefs... I was watching a show where the police had set up a 'bait car' to catch car theives. Two guys got in and after a minute or so they decided to pray that they would not get caught. Of course they did when the police shut off the car with a remote control device....
  7. I would say it depends on whether you have a conscious or not. People who have no conscious when it comes to morality I suspect would have no need to confess to feel better...
  8. I read a quote by Woody Allen where he said “The only thing that stands between me and greatness is me.” I suspect we all fall victim to this. It is ourselves that keep getting in the way of goals. We want to become enlightened but we get in the way. We want to be more compassionate but we get in the way. We want to realize our dreams, but we get in the way. So it would seem to overcome these problems, we have to figure out how to get ourselves out of the way.
  9. May Rev. Rob be freed from any pain and suffering; May he be blessed with peace and harmony

  12. Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. “Desiderata” (Latin for “desired things”, plural of desideratum) is an inspirational prose poem about attaining happiness in life. It was first copyrighted in 1927 by Max Ehrmann. A spoken-word recording of the essay was made by Les Crane and reached #8 on the Billboard magazine charts in late 1971. Crane died last Sunday.

  17. Since this is post #666, I thought I would ask your thoughts about this number and numerology in general. I believe the Reagans once has a house address changed from 666 to something else. Are you afraid of the number 666? What significance does it have to some people? I am unfamiliar with it. Also, do you have a lucky number? Why do you consider it lucky? Why do many buildings not have a 13th floor? I honestly do not understand why one would believe in such things...
  18. Sending you metta! Best wishes, keep putting one foot in front of the other...

  20. I have a folding chair On the patio of my apartment Next to some plastic plants That I do not have to water It is on the third floor I like to get up early And brew some coffee That is stronger than my ambition Half a teaspoon is enough I take a book on the porch And drown myself in sunshine Occasionally I will look up from my reading At the busy road that passes by my world I see the people Being beaten to death by the rapids Rushing over the falls In the expresslane to early death I smile in bemusement Now excuse me while I rush Into the kitchen For some more coffee
  21. While My Guitar Gently Weeps by Simon Leng...not for the musical side of it so much, but I am interested in the Hindu influence in George Harrison's life...
