  1. Everytime i pass though this part of Leviticus it reminds me to purify and rededicate my thoughts, work, and walk. "Then Aaron’s sons were brought forward and Moses smeared some of the blood on the lobes of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. Moses threw the remaining blood against each side of the Altar. " https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus+8&version=MSG
  2. That is exactly what I meant by that. If God is "omni" this and "omni" that.....He can defend himself better than I can.
  3. Yeah a lot of my Christian friends argue the need for apologetics. My questions are usually: "Do we really need to defend God and the Bible"? And "Are you the best He's got?" .....lol.....
  4. I dont think he really addresses the issue, but rather uses it to segway to other talking points:

  6. Think on this one a while: The Cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the Glory of God filled The Dwelling. Moses couldn’t enter the Tent of Meeting because the Cloud was upon it, and the Glory of God filled The Dwelling. Whenever the Cloud lifted from The Dwelling, the People of Israel set out on their travels, but if the Cloud did not lift, they wouldn’t set out until it did lift. The Cloud of God was over The Dwelling during the day and the fire was in it at night, visible to all the Israelites in all their travels. https://bible.com/bible/97/exo.40.34-38.MSG
  7. John states in 20:31 of his gospel that he wrote this gospel so that we may believe that Jesus is the Messiah and that believing in his name we would have life. And, he quoted 14 "proofs" to back it up. This topic started off with an interview with a grad student working on textual research. She noticed a discrepancy in the hand written copy of P66. She thinks, believes, and says its possible that this could hypothetically be intentional and possibly not an error, and may even have conspiracy element to it. I have pointed out to you the the message of this book, and I ask you the following: 1) How big is the impact of this scribal issue to the main point of this gospel? 2) On a scale of 1 to 10, how severely does it impact the point and message which Mary is the Mary in the text? 3) On a scale of 1 to 10 how severly does it impact the point and message if there are 2 sisters or 1? 4) What percentage of the total content of the gospel of John does this portion with the questionable part represent?
  8. Pay attention around 2:40. It has always amazed me how otherwise brilliant smart people use tools and thoeries for physical properties and observation on something metaphysical, and then complain it does not work.
  9. Im still wondering....how do you feel the scribal issue that this topic was started with impacts that message?

  11. I have a couple thoughts on that. 1) There is more than one person(s) that is(are) referred to as the "servant" or suffering servant. It is a knee jerk to assume it is always referring to one of them; context dictates. In the clip above it seem to be assumed the nation of Israel is the servant Isaiah is talking about. 2) I can think of at least three places (Isaiah 53; Isaiah 14; and Ezekiel 28) where the prophet (or God speaking through the prophet) starts talking to a king or person but then the dialogue changes so drastically that at some point it is no longer reasonable to understand that the message is to the person being addressed; like its not even possible. I think that is what is going on here. Also, the issue of the "proof texting' done by the new testament writers of old testament writings that are not contexted or taken in context. They call them "prophecies" and that should be clarified. But asActs 4 mentions they were "uneducated and untrained" men, so why should that be any surprise. These "prophesies" are more like types and shadows than prophesies, but none the less, legit references. Think about the times we have all picked up the BIble and just read one line and God spoke to us through that one line with no regard for context. Think about when you hear a song and one line sticks in your head. Think of when you are speaking with your wife or your brother and one thing they say is powerful and its like God is talking to you. I think its like that. Its no excuse for lazy preachers and Bible study leaders to take scripture out of context continually and that be the only exegesis they do, but it is a legit way that God speaks to his people through His Word. I agree with the Rabbi that the old testament in context would not lead to a "Christological" conclusion. But, look from Christ backward, and the sheer volume of these statements and partial statements that fit Christ is staggering. You could not do that if you tried. And, if the Orthodox Jews want to get all upset about the Christology proof texting is done by "uneducated and untrained" BUT HOLY SPIRIT INSPIRED New Testament writers, but say nothing about the Kabbalah esoteric high jacking of the text, or the bizarre "Torah Code" alleged prophesies, then I guess they are entitled. I can tell you this, I have NO INTEREST in getting in between two Jews arguing over Scripture. I mean, look how angry they get, and how Jesus would pit them against each other. I'm a gentile and I don't belong in that holy war.
  12. It seems that modern and postmodern Christianity lacks unity. If we look at the first four chapters of the Acts of the Apostles we see the church operating in the power of the Holy Spirit. That is what its all about. One thing that has to happen is the unity. Also the fellowship, spending time together, and truly loving each other. The church needs to unite and put aside the differencs. Jesus said that a "house divided can not stand". Without love and unity the 'church" is like someone watching a dance party from a distance and attempting to mimic the movements without hearing the music. The book of Acts with its examples, its 18 sermons, 9 revivals, 18 prayer meetings, etc.....is what the church should be looking to guidance.
  13. The next to the last paragraph: " Yet, early Pentecostals followed the guidelines of the city or health department and closed their churches and missions when instructed to. They were not careless with the lives of people during the pandemic. They were willing to stay home and pray, knowing that that was just as valuable in the crisis."
  14. The concluding paragraph: "I don’t know how long churches will be closed or people will suffer during the coronavirus pandemic. However, I know that people of faith have endured in the past and made it through. Our communities may experience tragic losses, but we may also hear dramatic testimonies of healing. We need to pray for one another. We need to encourage one another. We need to care for one another, especially the most vulnerable. But most of all, our churches need to follow the example of those who went before us to keep safe personally and obey the guidelines that keep others safe. If we can do this, we will make it through."
  15. An encouragement to pray, at the very least. https://influencemagazine.com/en/Theory/How-Pentecostals-Responded-to-the-1918-Spanish-Influenza-Pandemic

  17. That part about his childhood was true....I was there. He went to a different church, but he, my cousin and I, and his brother Doug, and sister Julie all went to Horace Mann elementary, Cherokee Jr High, and Kickapoo High...in Springfield Missouri. We hung out at Village Green pool in the summer, they lived on Primrose my cousin lived on Parkhill and there was a big culdesac circular common yard in the back that joined all the yards together. The Pentecostal church he going to was "Cornerstone", my uncle used to go there too. Small world.
  18. Right...so... It does not say that satan is the sepent (in Genesis), or define marriage as one man one woman, and that there is actually 10 commandment. It does say there is a "firmamant" or "expanse", it does promote a form of abortion possibly, and faith is trust. It should be clearer on divorce, on population control, and how it defines the earth. I enjoyed his presentation and i have argued similar points.
  19. In chapter 20, John states clearly why he is writing. Building up to that he uses 7 signs and 7 statements to support it. And Im still wondering....how do you feel the scribal issue that this topic was started with impacts that message? I can see youve read chapter one....lol
  20. Yeah, right, i get it, i appreciate your open mindedness. Do you know what the point of the Gospel of John is? And my question was related to how you feel the scribal edit/error/ conspiracy impacts the point and message of the book.
  21. Interesting thoughts. How, in your opinion, does this change the point and message of the Gospel of John?
  22. I never looked at it like that. A very interesting approach and conclusion.
  23. He is not convinced.....at all......lol
