proof that it's fear based lies in the responses, which inevitably devolve into talking points about when you die and you'll find out then. it's amazing when they can't see the inherent threat, the fear, that they are trying to use to manipulate belief

I don't think people are getting dumber. I think it's more exposure to the stupidity of complete strangers via much more information dissemination. The Internet shows us what we've always done but most people rarely encountered. Especially small town people.

No contradiction, everyone has morals to some degree, but believers have a foundation outside of themselves.. Is the death penalty wrong? Is homosexuality right? My answers would be rooted in what I believe, and not necessarily in what I personally think or my own moral standards. You no doubt would agree that murder is wrong, but that morality emanates from within your own judgement or what the government tells you. An atheist morals are not based on any foundation of truth outside of themselves.
Our foundation outside of ourselves is the process of logic. We're capable of reasoning out good morals and differentiating from bad ones, such as keeping slaves forever if they have kids with the spouse we provided

One of the greatest lies ever told was that we are born somehow wrong, in sin. It is a lie that has led not to peace or prosperity or enlightenment but rather to suppression, murder and suffering. The book containing this lie does espouse some truth. After all the best lie has a little truth to make it easier to swallow. The truth is you can judge by its fruit. What has been wrought from the tree of Christian beliefs and the bible? Certainly not love of everyone. Look at the proselytizers and how they are busy condemning every other belief. How much war and pain and evil has been wrought by those supporting this book of lies? We aren't inherently evil, but rather start with good in each of us. Don't surrender it to the lie.

Adoption of another culture's events certainly wouldn't be wrong if credit was given. However not only is credit lacking but the thieves deliberately meant to harm the original culture by demonizing and usurping them.

this is a problem for Christian belief, isn't it? give that it's all real. the serpent is a dynamic deceiver. therefore none of the gospel is trustworthy, because it easily could have been infernal inspiration that led to the work as it is today. judge by the fruits, and just what are the most popular ones? sex scandles, lies and bigotry abound in the church. killing, suppression, you name it and chances are the church has done it.
