If all religion were to vanish from the world; the world would still be a mess. That is because Humanity would still be a mess. Then again, faith based, supernatural religion, tends to make things worse. When supernatural, faith based religion, is behind Holy War; it's difficult to stop. The Godly don't want to negotiate with the Devil. When the cycles of revenge take on a life of their own, it keeps getting worse. The Crusades come to mind. India and Pakistan. Pakistan and Bangladesh. Ireland. Israel. Burma. Sunni Saudi Arabia vs. Shia Iran -- with all their proxy wars. Yes, Yugoslavia. -

Your point is valid. Time will tell. I think it depends largely on how future Muslims understand their religion. It also depends on how the rest of the world treats them. It also depends on the secular world. A world with a secular majority, is going to be a different world, than a Christian -- Islamic binary. -

Islam is no more a monolith than is Christianity. In Iraq, the Sunni and Shia militants seem to take more joy in killing each other, than outsiders. It is also a mistake, to assume that everyone in a Muslim dominant culture is religious. Atheists tend to be smart enough, to know when to stay in the closet. Be patient. Reality will prevail. When the fanatics take over, no one is ever pure enough. The madness consumes itself. -
