My Little Entrepreneur

My seven-year-old has several golden dollars. At some point he began selling them to my ex-husband and ex-life partner for “normal dollars” at face value. This morning he informed me that he has decided to charge two normal dollars for each golden dollar, so he can make more money for the Wii game he has been saving for. My son has also decided to impose a “tax” of an additional dollar to anyone who is staying at our house for the day.

Amusingly enough, he is so adorable when he explains it that I imagine he will have that Wii game in no time.

Oh my! Where does he ever get such ideas??? :fear:

Sounds like your little man has a very bright and industrious future ahead of him! It's a great thing that you have allowed him to discover fiscal responsibility on his own and in a manner for which he will only continue to mentally grow, learn creatively and express himself. Good job Mom!

Thank you!

I encourage him to deposit most of his money into his bank account for long-term goals and to save money outside of his account for other purchases. So, while he does have enough money saved in his bank account, he will not use it toward a Wii game.
