mererdog
I'm not sure I understand the question....In craft, form follows function. In art, form is function. Edited March 26, 2012 by mererdog
Brother Kaman
Function, of course. Why would anyone design a structure not knowing what function it will be used for?
panpareil
"Form ever follows function"... Louis SullivanWhat ever is not necessary for or interferes with functionality is eventually discarded.Which also means that what ever survives must have a function. BrDevon
Function, of course. Why would anyone design a structure not knowing what function it will be used for?Nature does it all the time. I'm certain no tree knew it was going to become part of a house, nor any plant or creature part of a meal.

Man knows what use he will put the tree to (function) when he cuts it down.

That was the function the man had in mind for the tree when he cut it down.
BrDevon
And I just thought the function he had in mind was to exchange some wood for some paper (namely, a paycheck).
Brother Kaman
And I just thought the function he had in mind was to exchange some wood for some paper (namely, a paycheck). That would depend whether he was a jypo logger or was working for the lumber mill. Could be he saw the function of the tree (and his efforts) was to create firewood to heat his home. In any case, nature assigns a function to those things with in the natural spectrum and man then assign his own function to things depending on his wants, needs, and impulses.
