  1. Thanks. "For many are called, but few are chosen." - Matthew 22: 14. This is repeated again a few times in the Doctrine and Covenants. "Behold, there are many called, but few are chosen. And why are they not chosen? Because their hearts are set so much upon the things of this world, and aspire to the honors of men, that they do not learn this one lesson— That the rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven, and that the powers of heaven cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness." - Doctrine and Covenants 121: 34-36 Everyone must find their own way towards eternal progression.
  2. " All truth is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act for itself, as all intelligence also; otherwise there is no existence." - Doctrine and Covenants 93: 30 I grew up, and still am a LDS Mormon Christian. I am a minister in the Church in good standing. I just baptized my daughter last month. But I fear we have lost too much of our religion due to conservative influence. Brigham Young denied the faith when he excluded "blacks" from the priesthood. We are now fighting against religions freedom by saying other faiths shouldn't be allowed to preform same sex marriages. The more I study the Church Smith started and the Doctrines of our faith, the more in line the ULS seems to be with them. According to D&C 76, all will have the opportunity to accept or reject Christ at some point and obtain a place in the Kingdom of Heaven. Yet many in my faith seem to think must work hard to force others to follow one path. I am not giving up on my faith, but I feel God has a place for me in the ULC. So, here I am.
  3. Thank you all for your responses, and sorry it took me so long to get back.
  4. If you want to talk art, look at the beautiful cathedrals, chapels, mosques, LDS temples, etc. If you want to see the profound impact, look at the lives of people that have been blessed. When you see a mother and father working out their differences, rather than taking the easy way our and divorcing, because they know that making it through the rocky times will make their love stronger - why do they do it? Many do this not for the kids alone but due to the lessons learned in their holy books. When you see people helping others because of the faith they have in their god(s), where did they faith come from? How did they know what to do? Many people, when asked, will quote their holy book(s) - even if it is just something that they heard someone else read or quote to them. Holy books are written by men. The cover page of the Book of Mormon reads, "And now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God, that ye may be found spotless at the judgment-seat of Christ." I believe that we should read all holy book with this understanding, they all have been handed down orally, written and re-written, translated an re-translated. None of them are perfect. But we can still use them to help make ourselves perfect. It is only when we use them to condemn the imperfections of others that we miss use them and they harm the world.
  5. I heard of this church when I read an article on line offering Kate Kelly the chance to be ordained through their church (you can read about it here...http://www.digitaljournal.com/pr/2030300). I was very curious. But after looking on line to learn more, it seemed there were a number of websites claiming to be the ULC, I think the one in the article I read was an offshoot from this one? But you (this church) seem to have two websites, I'm not sure if this is even the same church as the one linked to on Wikipedia (the original ?). So, I had a few questions: 1. Are you (this website) affiliated with the original ULC or a splinter group? 2. Is the ULC mentioned in the article the same as this one or any form of recognized branch, or are they just some other church with the same name? 3. Do you also accept pagans, Jedi, etc in this order if it is not the same one, like the one in the article does? 4. If there are differences, what are they and why did other groups offshoot from you, or the original if you are not the original? 5. If you are different churches, do you (this church) accept those that want to preach using books outside the Bible, like the Dead Sea Scrolls, Pseudepigraphal writings, Gnostic texts, Book of Mormon, etc? Thank you for your time.
