Brother Michael Sky
sometimes it's a colorful affair to REALLY explore history...It is now more than a thousand years since these territories and cities have been given to the priests and ever since then the most violent wars have been waged on their account, and yet the priests neither now posses them in peace, nor will be ever able to posses them. It were in truth better before the eyes of God, and the world that these pastors should entirely renounce the dominium temporale:for since Sylvester's time the consequences of the temporal power have been innumerable wars and the overthrow of peoples and cities. How is it possible that there has never been any good pope to remedy such evils and that so many wars have been waged for these transient possessions. Truly we cannot serve God and Mammon at the same time, cannot stand with one foot in Heaven and the other on Earth."Giovanni de' MussiChronicle of Piacenza,c.1350almost a thousand years since he asked his question, does the answer remain the same?I think it does, because it is a TRUTH....They still struggle to hold on to the control of daily lives as much as they ever did....And that would be worse than "reality" television how? (Other than you can't smell the rot through the television). that's the point.... you don't get cadaver chunks on your shoes by watching tv......good thing they didn't have e-bay back then - there would still be pieces of him for sale - and folks bidding on them....
