SilverRose
I don't know where in the forum to post this question:one of my manuscripts is ready with the exception of the cover. I'd counted on using a photo I'd taken a few years ago, but can't find it & cannot seem to come up with anything as appropriate. I don't have the option of re-taking the picture, as it was in a different state. it's a photograph of a mural-- my question is, in that I know some very talented artists, would it be considered copyright infringement if someone were to simply draw a "kinda like a copy" of the mural, possibly making just a couple of changes or something so it would be a little different from the original?I know some murals DO have copyright signs on them, but I'm not sure about this one. Call me Flower
Dear Heart,You could try writing to the Chamber of Commerce in that town, and ask them if they have a picture of that Mural you could possibley use? or if they can give you the contact info for the artist. If I remember right, anything that is done by an artist is proctected as their own, you will need premission to use it. Unless that artist has been dead more than 70 years. There are rules to protect you if you still had the photo, but that depends on if it was taken in a pubic or private place. I'd still ask the Chamber. I think most Chambers have websites now, that might speed up your quest. Flpwer
