OddyseyT
The ballerina dancedIn endless pirouettesAtop her velvet platformTo a delicate dreamer's song The mirrors set behindGlittered with the lightIn the gazing admirer's eyesAnd happily she twirledThe children saw onlyA pair of painted doll eyesNever knowing that sheGazed upon them from within The ballerina smiledHer white plastic smileShining in the reflectedSparkle from the glass behind her Sometimes the childrenWent away, but alwaysThey returned to seeDelicate dance of ballerina One day the music endedAnd ballerina's pirouettesSlowed to stop foreverAnd she stood in silent judgment Her painted eyes only now sawThe glitter had been fadingLong and now was goneHer plastic smile never faltered The children stood aboutBarely aware of broken ballerinaJust one pair of eyesTouched the brief surface of her gaze "Well, oh well, the boxIs broke... Just get another"And in darkness she layThe children giggled...echoing In the darkness, ballerinaTried to twirl, but it was too lateTo be free from herEndless painted form Ballerina had always dancedShe believed the sparkle reflectedIn the children's gaze was loveAs her glassy eyes remained fixed Her home lay atop a shattered pileBallerina stood in silenceContemplating forgotten dreamsHer plastic smile undimmed Soon she was forgottenAs the tears glittered unseenIn a jewelry box ballerina'sPainted eyes.
