Rev.Sam
Hi there! I am newly ordained and have a question: I have seen statements to the effect that only those ULC clergy ordained before 1976 can perform legally recognized marriages in NC; is this true? -Rev. Dorian Gray
see following links for case law in NC.http://www.ulcseminary.org/forum/uploads/NCvLynch.pdfhttp://www.ulcseminary.org/forum/uploads/fultonvvickery.pdf http://www.ulcseminary.org/forum/uploads/LynchvULC.pdfBottom line: ULC marriages prior to July 3, 1981 are validated. (NC § 51-1.1.) Marriages solemnized after July 3, 1981 are questionable in legality due to the above case law.
