  1. Anyone seen this yet? I saw it on opening day and it was fantastic! I mean, I got tired of staring at men's abs (and felt a little inadequate -- like I need to do sit-ups), but the cinematography was awesome! The stunts were fantastic and the story was great! Now, if only they could make a good movie about CuChulain or Finn Mac Cumhail. Or, Vercingentorix.

Great movie! Just was a little puzzled by the portrayal of Xerxes.

  2. You seem to make a lot of generalities in your post, many going against literary scholarship.

considering first off that the books of the bible for the most part were written at the very least one hundred (many speculate up to three hundred) years AFTER Jesus died, and the apostles were grown men before jesus died, I would safely bet that Paul (if there was a Paul) wasn't t he author and in most cases it seems a collection of people would get together and put in all the fables and rules and word of God, editing and rewriting until all the information they wanted to include was there. Much of the information has been proved to be historically inaccurate.

I think if people really lived life as described in the bible they would be superior people just that good old golden rule would be a change for the better, few believers actually follow all the teachings choosing instead to pick and choose what to follow and what to ignore as it fits what they want to be able to do in their lives and using the words to justify their actions.

  3. This is the first time Ive seen you so supportive and not immediately trash a spirituality..kudos..Maybe your usual kneejerk reactions have their reasons
You'll have to realize that no matter what you say, you cannot communicate with some people. If they cannot see the need for what you are trying to do, then move on to greener pastures. When you get your organization going and they see the benefits to them, take the high road and let them in anyway.

  4. Wiccan / witch wars happen every so often. It is like when one faction of the Baptist church gets pissy with the main body and breaks off. It goes with the saying not all witches are Wiccan but all wiccans are witches. Just as not all Christians are Baptists but all Baptists are Christians.

(Note) Baptists are used as reference only. No Christians or Baptists were harmed in this posting)
    Cheers

  5. Youre posting that question??? Youre joking, right? This from the person that accuses everyone who disagrees with him with attacks and nothing but arguing...this is too funny...

It is interesting that believers always claim to be attacked when someone is not silent about their non belief. Their double standard, as seen here, holds that they can defend their beliefs, but when non believers defend themselves from personal attacks, that's wrong.

If you go back and read my first posting in this thread you'll find no attack on you, but was a reply to your argument.

  6. There is no difference

Yes there is, already spelled out( geez, here we go again)

Your gods are not part of science and science does not spend any precious time or energy trying to disprove your god. Gods are part of religions, not science

Exatly, so why try always disproving religion with science. Yes, they can co-exist, and no, you dont have to if you dont want. As far wasting precious time, it seems to me you use an awful lot trying to argue and downgrade people's beliefs. Why? If science is your thing, then great for you, why do you care so much about what people beleive in? And dont say you dont care, because you do, you never miss a chance to attack it.

The two are exactly the same. "Faith" in this case is just a euphemism for a specific religious belief. Many christians have their own "system of ceremony, prayer, ritual, rules and laws...." and do not adhere to what some preacher or some "prescribed method of worship" tells them to do. It's still a religious belief no matter how you try to redefine it.

    There is no difference.

Science neither knows, nor cares, of or about your belief. Your gods are not part of science and science does not spend any precious time or energy trying to disprove your god. Gods are part of religions, not science.

  7. Andre,

On behalf of the membership of the Universal Life Church Online forum, please allow me to express the sorrow we all have at the loss of your dear mother, Lida. While obviously not many have heard much of her (outside your office), we all know Lida was a fine, strong woman that upheld the ideals of your father, and helped make the church the great success

I'm sure many of us would love to be present for the memorial service you plan to hold. Be assured that we are with you and your family in spirit during this difficult time.

We offer our prayers, best wishes, support, and love to you during this difficult time.

Forum members, please post your support to the Hensley family in this thread. I will pass a link to this topic to Andre in a few days.

May her soul be in Light, and may God be with the family as well.
