This is the first thing I've needed to write in 20 years....so be gentle please.

I feel you

Not near me

Somewhere inside

Yet, surrounding

Feel your breath

On my skin

Hear your voice

In my head

Slipping away

From myself

Lost to you

Completely

sorrow fills the void

does the mighty old oak cry like her?

waiting in her dusty chair for at least one visitor

she jumps in lightning flash speed to the phone

but all she hears on the other end is "do you want a good rate for a loan?"

she shuffles off to bed her only comfort is to sleep

she hopes to die in the night so not another day she will weep...

Been there. Well said.

~ I don't know if this will help Fred or not.

It's a Tanka {a specific poem form} I wrote years ago...

In lonely darkness

Tears fall on a damp pillow.

A deep quilt of snow

Quietly covers the past.

Sorrow springs from a cold bed.

... Crap. That wouldn't help anyone, huh?

Why is it the strongest poetry is always a spilling of pain?

OK! Cheerier...

A frog burps & leaps up

I squeak & leap back

my dog yips & leaps too

... Leap frog is muddy.

~ Glad ya like the frog one... it just made me giggle. Again. { :rofl: I'm a twit quite often! :rolleyes: }

Wind plays the leaves like a harp,

Each note falling golden to the ground.

Soon the muted whisper of branches strummed

with snow to slow the rhythm.

My soul cries out to you in the night.

Misses you, though I barely know you.

What is this strange hold you have on me?

Drawing me, frightening, fascinating me.

Run, or learn to trust?

My soul cries out, you respond,

Soothe my fear, lead me on.
