  1. If I am not mistaken, to be legally wed in Germany you only have to have a civil marriage done by government officials. The religious wedding ceremony is separate and is not considered to be the legal one, but is just done for ceremonial/religious purposes.

  2. I really don't know why I am posting this or what I hope to accomplish. I guess that I feel that some of the most intelligent, thoughtful and caring people I know are on here and maybe someone will have an answer or maybe just some insight.

I am so frustrated and angry with my life right now that I don't know what to do. Everyday I wonder why I go on. Everyday is worse than yesterday. Everyday I think, "why keep struggling when you know it's just going to be worse tomorrow?".

People say, "They come up with new techniques and medicines everyday. Don't lose hope."

Too late, I ran out of hope a long time ago and now I feel like I just keep going because I don't know what else to do. I talk myself out of suicide everyday. Why?

Keep on talking yourself out of it. Also here is a link to local resources that can help you. Please check them out.

  3. I live in Minnesota and do Iowa weddings and as far as I know there is no 'registration' requirements for being a clergy member and doing weddings in Iowa.

    Joe

I have been ordained since 2007....I preformed my first wedding tonight. I never gave it much thought that I might have to be registered in my own county/state. I have been trying to find answers online and I guess Im just not quite understanding what this is saying...can any of you help. I live in Iowa. From what this says I am understanding I don't need to register with state that my ULC is good enough??

  4. I am sorry. I am new but what exactly is a letter of sponsorship and how do i obtain one?

If you are a non-resident of Wisconsin, you need to have a letter of sponsorship to be able to perform a wedding in Wisconsin. It has to come from a minister of the same denomination that you are who has a church under his/her ministry.

If ordained by ULC of modesto you can get one here: http://ulcwisconsin.org/html/sponoshiptemp.html

  5. I do weddings in Wisconsin (and live in Minnesota) and on the county web site of 2 of the wisconsin counties that I do weddings in, they specifically state that the officiant's name address and phone number are needed when applying for the license. This is not called out in the state statute anywhere that I can find, but it is most likely asked for to determine if the officiant is a resident or not.

I have had couples contact me because they forgot to bring my address and phone number with them when they applied.

So far no clerk has asked any of my couples for a letter of sponsorship, although I supply them with an electronic copy just in case.
