  1. In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved, and were loved, and now we lie

    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

    In Flanders fields.

    — Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)

    Let us pray for peace

  2. This fascination I believe carries on into the 'entertainment' of violent movies, tv shows, and such. The same people who are aghast at crime in real life, so often embrace it as a form of entertainment in the media. I try to understand that but no luck so far...

  3. 3...I remember taking a vacation with my parents to visit my aunt who lived in Miami Beach. I remember using water wings in the hotel pool and visiting my aunt's house. She had two or three white poodles...Strange, I do not remember anything about my aunt and uncle though...

  4. Out in my back yard

    I hear you calling me

    In your throaty roar

    That cuts through the

Thick air of a country summer

    Running past the house

    With the peeling paint

    I race down the road

As fast as my legs allow

Arriving just in time to meet you

The ground trembles at your feet

    Your glorious carriages roar by

    To exciting destinations unknown

Now I stand at our old rendezvous

The wood and steel highway is gone

Only a few piles of rocks remain

    Tossed aside in the weeds

You are gone, never to return

Like the little boy who used to meet you here
