  1. Greetings to you my sister, I was in point and fact a moderator on the Monastery forum right before and during the split, so I actually know quite a bit more about what had happened then Amy shared on her video. It has been almost 12 years now since the split, While I have some very pointed views about the Monastery and the leadership there, the past is past and cannot be changed. They are now a separate and distinct organization that has nothing to do with the Mother Church in Modesto or ULC.net. I wish them no ill will, but really believe that it is here at ULC.NET and with the Mother Church in Modesto that the true spirit of the church that was the creation of Kirby Hensley lives on. In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  2. Greetings to you my brother, After 40 years of marriage (well in August it will be 40), I can assure you that the Maxim "Happy Wife, happy life" are words I live by. One can be a fallen sinner, and Christ will easily forgive. Upset thine wife, and prepare fo the fires of hell In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  3. Greetings to you my brother, Does that mean that you cannot control my mind with a slight wave of your........things to do today.....take wife out to eat....transfer money in my bank account to Jonathan,...wait, what the heck.... In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  4. Greetings to you my brother, Awww gee. Thanks Mark In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  5. Greetings to you my brother, Perhaps somebody will start a Restored Church of the Jedi and return the faith to its original roots. In solidarity, Rev.. Calli
  6. Greetings to you my brother, Typically in America at least, a church that says it is Non-Denominational means that it is not part of any established Christian denomination, but considers themselves to be a Christian church. Sometimes a Christian church with a vengeance as some of the most rabidly fundamentalist church tend to refer to themselves as non-denominational. The ULC, while it has many Christian members and allies (like your's truly), embraces all faith systems, and also validates those who have no belief in a God or God's at all. IMHO, it would be fairer to call the ULC an interfaith church, where there is room for all people to practice their beliefs. In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  7. Greetings to you my brother, That also happens in Christianity, as scholars and theologians continue to rethink and redevelop our understanding of the teachings of Christ and what they have meant throughout the centuries. IMHO, any faith system that does not continue to challenge it's fundamental beliefs is doomed to die,as it becomes irrelevant in a society that continues to grow and develop. In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  8. Greetings to you my brother, Fascism in the many forms it developed in Europe and South American during the early part of the 20th century often involved armed revolutionaries who detested the very concept of communism. In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  9. Greetings to you my brother, They are not. ULC.Net is the official forum of the Mother Church in Modesto California. The Monastery was at one point associated with Modesto, but around 2005 or so split off and became a totally separate organization. Welcome to the forum! In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  10. Greetings to you my brother, As I have been going thru and purging the dead links, the ones that I have found so far that refer to the California Assembly of Jedis no longer were active. In solidarity, Reverend Calli
  11. Greetings to you my brother, I think you may be on to something, tho I would not limit this to followers of Christ. A religion can be any belief system that gives an individual's life purpose and meaning. So religion does not necessarily involve a deity. In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  12. Greetings to you my sister, Thank you. I was first introduced to this early in my seminary days, and it has influenced my ministry ever since. In Solidarity, Rev. Calli
  13. Greetings to you my brother, For what you want to do, I would suggest two courses of action. You could form a legal church, either as a chartered congregation of the ULC or as a completely separate organization. In all honesty, I think you would find that would only complicate unnecessarily what you are trying to do, as it does not sound like this is going to be a big money maker. My suggestion would be to claim whatever you received from your site at first in miscellaneous income on your tax return unless the income generated goes over $600 in a calendar year. Under this plan, people making donations to you would not be able to claim them as charitable contributions. The amount tho is so meager that it wouldn't make an appreciable difference on anybody's return anyway. Just be sure to point out on your site that the money donated is not tax deductible. If the money received would start going over more then this very moderate amount, then you would have to make a decision on what direction you really wanted to go. Would you see yourself starting a church, or would you consider yourself to have an independent business, much like someone ordained by the ULC who primarily served as a wedding officiant? That is a question you would have to answer, but right now IMHO you are really just beginning and don't have to make a decision at this point. One thing I would suggest, and that it to contact the local office of the IRS to request information on the tax laws regarding self-employed individuals. I would also order the most recent edition of the Zondervan Church and Non Profit Tax and Financial Guide. I wish you good luck on your undertaking. In solidarity, Rev. Calli

  18. Greetings to you my sister, IMHO, you may find that unit to be underpowered for an outside wedding, especially if it gets windy at all. My suggestion to you would be to go to a store that caters to musicians or entertainment professionals and talk to a salesperson. See what they suggest, then compare their price to the same equipment on Amazon. Remember that this is a long-term investment for you, so you don't want to get something underpowered. In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  19. Greetings to you all my brothers and sisters, I too mourn his passing. In solidarity, Rev. Calli

  22. Greetings to you all my sisters and brothers, I want to add my own congratulations to the Hensley family and all those who have worked so hard to make the ULC the church (in the truest sense of the word) that it is today. In truth, I have never requested ordination by the ULC because the rules of the denomination I am ordained in forbid me to do so. But, as an American, I applaud the ULC for being the one genuine church that empowers all people, whatever their belief system is, to exercise their faith and share the ideas and insights that they have received thru the Creator or their own life experiences. We may not agree on all things. But the ULC helps to protect the rights of all people to think for themselves and seek God in their own ways. For this, we all owe Kirby Hensley and all those who have worked so hard to continue to keep the ULC alive our gratitude. In solidarity, Rev. Calli
  23. Greetings to you my brother, Very true. Just as individuals change and can become something quite different that what they started out as so to do institutions. In solidarity, Rev. Calli

  25. Greetings to you my brother, When I first entered the ministry some 25 years ago now, I came up with this prayer that I use for the sick, Creator God, father and mother to us all, source of life and love and all good things, be with our brother/sister now in their time of trial and need. Comfort them with your presence, and offer them healing of body and peace of soul. Help them to know that you are always with them, and will never desert them. All these things we ask in the name of Jesus, our risen Savior and Redeemer. Amen. In solidarity, Rev. Calli
