  1. still working under the impression it is a cult, and therefor leaving is not an option. Waiting for an intervention from my family, but I am not sure they have noticed the absense..

Cult? Cult! I don't know what you're talking about.

Have some koolaid. it will make you feel better.

  2. So, here I was floatin around the board the other day. I get this nomination for a Saint.

I consider it, and think, yeah, I can agree with that.

So, I shoot the boss a letter. He agrees with me, and we get it shipped out.

    It arrived today.

Here's the contents of my letter to Kevin.

We have a forum member that does a lot for people in his community, and even not in his community, that I'd like to nominate for Sainthood.

In Wisconsin, out of state ministers are required to get a letter of sponsorship from an existing Wisconsin minister in order to be able to perform marriages in their state. This is much more common than one might think.

kokigami, member of the forum, provides these letters at no cost to anyone who asks. He constantly pays out of his own pocket to write and send these letters.

He also maintains a thread on the forum that updates people every time the Universal Life Church is mentioned in any newspaper. He strives to make people aware of the Universal Life Church, in a positive light.

As far as his posting on the forums, Kokigami is an intelligent man, always giving careful thought to his words, providing wisdom to other forum members.

Off line, outside of the church, he's a fire fighter. He selflessly risks his life on a daily basis to keep other people alive.

For these reasons I would like to nominate "Kokogami" for Sainthood in the Universal Life Church.

    Thank you.

    Congrats, koki...well deserved :)

  3. I've seen so many stories about how people are using their ordination. Some people have actual brick and mortar churches, some people have se tup web ministries, some people did it just to perform a wedding for a friend, and some people did it just because they like the idea of being a minister!

    So, what's your story??

As for me, I freely admit that I did it, initially, as a joke. I had NO idea what the ULC was all about. I was ordained before I made my first post on the old Snitz forum.

There, I found a community of people that interested me, so I jumped in with the odd news story (funny stuff that I'd found on the internet.) Kevin noticed, and gave me my very own little section. "News flashes from Murph."

And from there, I took on a few more areas, and eventually, took over the whole thing!

  4. Ministers of the gospel and priests of every church throughout the state may perform marriages. ---Ministers must return the marriage license and a certificate of marriage to the clerk of the circuit court within 3 months after the marriage. ---For questions see the clerk of the circuit court.

Sounds to me like all the minister needs to do is sign the license and submit it to the circuit court.

However, as always, your best bet is going to be contacting that circuit court and determining whether or not your friend needs to "register" as a minister, or if signing the license is good enough.

  5. I guess the best way you'd look at it is....counsel the person as you would counsel a friend or family member. If you get out of your league, don't hesitate to say so.

I would recommend the S.O.U.L course from the bookstore here.

The Science of Understanding Life, SOUL Clinic course is a course in psychology. This course deals with resources from many fields. This course does not entitle you to be a state certified psychologist. It qualifies you as a ministerial counselor. This course consists of 12 lessons, as well as three textbooks which you obtain locally. They are available in most libraries and bookstores. A SOUL Clinic License is issued upon completion of the course. This interesting course is a must for every active minister.

  6. As a minister you can perform spiritual counseling. However, before you try to do "mental" counseling, you may wish to take a look at your local community colleges and see what kind of certificate programs they have available.

States do not regulate the peaceful conduct of ministers. You can officiate marriage, perform funerals, baptisms, preach, teach, counsel and perform all other peaceful rites of the clergy.
