  1. This is an incredibly close-minded statement on a forum that does not assign itself to a religion and promotes diversity. I'll have you know that many of my Hispanic Catholic ancestors implemented their indigenous religion into Catholicism and many of the women in my family line are "White Witches". We are talking about a religion were God flooded the world to mountain peaks and where Yeshua raised from the dead. Just go off to reddit instead of calling people's beliefs invalid.
  2. Genesis 1:1-4 (Revised Standard Version) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.
  3. Shalom! How many credits do you currently have in the program? I was contemplating taking some courses myself but I found another distance learning seminary.
  4. Ultimately it is the word of man. Even the teachings of Mar Yeshua is the word of man.
  5. The Bible is exactly that, a book of interpretations. From my personal experiences, if you want to discover your spirituality, stay away from the Old Testament. It is a compilation of myths and legends from people who created a concept to validate themselves. Now looking into the teachings of Mar Yeshua, the Master Jesus, might help you find what you are searching for. Peace!
  6. They do give free clitoris reconstruction, promote a reclamation of the swastika as a symbol of peace, and promote love. Of course in my opinion religion is an institution which does more bad than good, and any organization with the worship of a person alive is a recipe for disaster.
  7. Personally, none of it. Of course people are free to choose as they want, even if it's...exotic to say.
  8. I did a project over a new age religion called Raëlism in school. Vice made a great documentary about them. Here is me sharing.
  9. Happy Birthday! 🍰 (If you celebrate that sort of thing) Thanks for keeping the forum active.

  10. While in Boy Scouts of America I was invited into the Order of the Arrow, an honor association you can only be granted access to by being voted in by your peers. After you attain enough votes you are declared a candidate, where you then proceed to an ordination ceremony. At this ordination ceremony four main characters are present. Kichkinet (the guide), Meteu, Nutiket, and Allowat Sakima. Some lodge's scripts may vary. Throughout this whole ceremony the scouts in the roles try their best to channel these mythical characters. References to the winds and other traditions are embraced in these ceremonies. During the Brotherhood ordination, a ceremony that can be taken 10 months after becoming a Arrowman (an initiated OA member), Arrowmen must symbolically share blood my cutting their hand, with a dull blade, and shedding it into a fire. I just realized while digging through my old trunk and finding my script that all of this must have seemed very strange for many as it involves traditions involving Native American spirituality. This org is still present in BSA, thought it would be interesting to bring to y'all attention. Picture credit: Shenshawpotoo Lodge #276 Order of the Arrow
  11. I did not mean it as such. I meant that the issue with the manager could have been resolved without the intent to harm him by black magic. The issue could have been resolved by displaying their displeasure to the manager and coming to a resolve. I agree with having friends with varying degrees of beliefs and opinions, but having a friend who acts irrationally to wish ill upon someone makes me feel threatened. What if I have an argument with them and they wish ill against me? It's a dangerous friendship. Anyway thanks for your input, I wish more would would have the courage like you to speak their mind, it is what makes a conversation thought provoking. Peace!
  12. This reminds me of my grandfather who says "Wicked people are like spiders who ensnare those in their web." I often forget to surround myself with those that wish well upon others . It is time to reorganize my circles. I don't want a friend who will wish ill on me as an emotional response, rather than resolve it intellectually.
  13. Yes I have heard of this. I have been learning more about wicca, witchcraft, and magik, everyone tells me that arts such as these are dangerous. The Priest of a coven I have been contacting recently to learn more suggested I distance myself from this person as soon and gently as possible to avoid angering them. He said that people who react in such ways are a danger to everyone around them.
  14. At my work place we recently got a new manager. He isn't the nicest man but is definitely assisting in bringing up the quality of the place. One of my co-workers who I am close to confided in me that they recently put a hex on my manager to curse him. I didn't understand why she would do this as she practices wicca, which states magik is not to be used for ill against others. A week passes and nothing happened so I asked them what was up. They said I was to hasty but that their deity said soon. I find out today that the manager was jumped by another co-worker and robbed. The manager hasn't showed up since then. Now I am a skeptic and realize that it could have been her magik, but the manager did step on a lot of toes which makes it reasonable someone would snap. Does anyone else have stories of their observations of scenarios like these, or maybe have applied this craft to do something similar? I know most will play it off as coincidence but like I said I am a skeptic. Peace!
  15. I thought of these things you listed when I was younger but was too busy being entranced by the wealth of the church to care. Almost like it's done purposely to attract people ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Anyway thanks for sharing brother/sister.
  16. I have recently spoke with a friend and he is more of a "I don't care." while I am an "I don't know." type of person in accordance with a belief in God(s). I try not to think to much about my own faith anymore as it doesn't do anything but stresses me out because of conformity. For now I will just continue my theological studies and create discussions to keep this board active. Hope to see much more of your input!
  17. What is it about Catholicism in particular you reject? Personally, I found communion being the actual body and blood of Christ to be a stretch. I also reject the authority of the Pope, although with all religious leaders some of their teachings speak true to world matters.
  18. Welcome Brother, hope you find what you're looking for here. Don't be afraid to start discussions or join in on some, ULC needs community to stay alive.
  19. Are you referring to the Gnostic gospels or something else? I am interested in learning more.
  20. I've started to take it at that value. I am beginning to see Jesus of Nazareth as only a teacher rather than the messiah. Just a little stressed about liberating myself, Other than that the past week has been very eye opening to me. Just wanted to hear my brothers/sisters opinions.
  21. I used to be a hardcore catholic who would shun my current day self. Never once did I question the validity of the bible as doing so would be blasphemy. Although the more I read, the more questions without answers I had. I would spend hours praying and hours listening trying to find God's voice inside of me for the answer to these questions. Every time the answers were ones of doubt. My parent's would say that was the voice of Satan but I am not so sure. Looking at the multiple translations from Hebrew, Greek, Roman-Latin, etc, I can only imagine how much was lost in translation. Even now, many points in the bible were written "for the times" some claim but that makes no sense. If it was written for the times and God is all seeing, wouldn't God foresee his people forsaking the laws in which he made. What do y'all think about the validity of the bible? I would love to hear my brother's and sister's comments. I am fully open to criticism and will try my best to be civil.
  22. I wish I had thought of this before I posted this topic, I'm going to remember this quote.
  23. I defiantly did overcomplicate the process, your guidance is super helpful, thanks.
  24. I see the ULC as serious as any other church or org in the United States. While many call the church an "ordination mill", I call it freedom. I have always taken an interest in religion and interfaith dialogue. My curiosity of the world's numerous religions has brought me to ULC and this forum. As an ordained member of ULC, I want to further my knowledge and training to be an active minister in my community. I have read many posts of members offering their services, one being the late Brother Atwater Vitki, rest in peace, and his time at a hospital near him. These experiences give me hope that when I feel ready, I can offer my services as a chaplain to local institutions. I have spent time looking as programs to learn more about religions and the role of a minister/chaplain. I know of ULC Seminary but I have read Rev. Amy Long is on a leave of absence, and none of my emails from the multiple addresses I sent to have responded, so I am skeptical to pursue. One institute I found that caught my interest is https://chaplaincyinstitute.org/ which prides themselves on being an Interfaith seminary which is what I seek. I am under the impression that getting taken seriously is difficult as the ULC reputation isn't as high as other churches. I am seeking to one day make this a full-time vocation, so if any brother/sisters have advice for further education or training, please do tell. Peace!
  25. Thank you for sharing, is an informative watch.
