The Buddha began with certain basic questions. Why do we suffer? What is the nature of suffering? For now, we can set aside the answers to these questions.
By contrast, the Christ is about the Path to God. A very different goal.
I should add that I am neither Buddhist nor Christian. These are only the most basic of distinctions.
